Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager – Data Engineering to lead large-scale GCP-based data engineering programs and manage distributed Data Engineering teams.

The ideal candidate should have a strong combination of team management, GCP Data Engineering expertise, delivery management, and client/stakeholder management.

This is a leadership-focused role for someone who can manage and mentor Data Engineers and Leads, drive end-to-end project delivery, participate in technical and architecture discussions, and independently manage client and senior stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead end-to-end delivery of large-scale GCP Data Engineering and Data Platform projects.
- Manage and mentor distributed teams of Data Engineers, Technical Leads, and Analysts across offshore and onshore locations.
- Drive team performance, sprint planning, backlog prioritization, resource allocation, velocity tracking, and release planning.
- Own delivery governance including milestones, risks, dependencies, escalations, and project status reporting.
- Act as a key point of contact for clients and senior stakeholders, managing expectations, escalations, change requests, and delivery commitments.
- Participate in GCP architecture and technical discussions, evaluating data engineering approaches, risks, and trade-offs.




- Work closely with technical teams to ensure scalable and reliable data pipelines, data lakes, and cloud data platforms.
- Drive Agile/Scrum practices, continuous improvement, documentation, and delivery excellence.
- Support pre-sales activities, technical proposals, solution discussions, and POCs.
- Coordinate effectively across offshore and onshore teams and manage delivery in fixed-scope and fixed-bid engagements.
- Ensure adoption of CI/CD and DevOps practices within data engineering projects.

Must-Have Skills

- 8–15 years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Platforms, or Engineering Management.
- Proven experience managing Data Engineering teams and technical leads.
- Strong experience and understanding of GCP Data Engineering.
- Experience with Data Lakes, Data Pipelines, and cloud-based data platforms.
- Strong experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Excellent client and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience managing distributed offshore and onshore teams.
- Robust experience with JIRA and Confluence.
- Good understanding of CI/CD and DevOps practices in data engineering.
- Experience handling project risks, dependencies, escalations, delivery governance, and executive reporting.

Positive to Have





- Experience delivering fixed-bid/fixed-scope GCP Data Engineering projects.
- Experience with Google Data Catalog, AWS Lake Formation, or Azure Purview.
- Google Professional Data Engineer certification or other cloud certifications.
- CSM, SAFe, or PMP certification.
- Experience in pre-sales, technical proposals, POCs, and client presentations.

Team Management: Proven experience managing, mentoring, and coordinating Data Engineering teams and technical leads.

GCP Data Engineering: Strong understanding of GCP data platforms, data lakes, data pipelines, and cloud data architecture.

Stakeholder Management: Ability to independently manage clients, senior stakeholders, escalations, expectations, and executive reporting.

Delivery Management: Strong ownership of project delivery, Agile governance, milestones, risks, dependencies, and releases.

Distributed Team Management: Experience coordinating offshore and onshore teams in large-scale engagements.
