Job Description - Chief Manager, Group Business Strategy (Fund Business)
Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to develop, drive, and oversee strategic initiatives, business planning, and investment governance for the Fund Business under Group Business. The role is responsible for building robust frameworks for profitability, enhancing investment performance reporting, and enabling client-centric engagement through standardized deliverables and simulations. It requires solid financial acumen, strategic foresight, and cross-functional leadership to deliver sustainable growth and profitability.
Job Context & Major Challenges
- The Group Fund Business operates in a highly competitive, B2B environment. Evolving regulatory requirements demand agility and proactive adaptation of governance frameworks and reporting practices.
- Managing multiple stakeholders across Investments, Actuarial, Finance, and Sales requires strong influence and collaboration.
- Ensuring standardization and accuracy in investment deliverables, while driving innovation in customer engagement tools, poses ongoing challenges.
- The role requires balancing tactical execution with medium- to long-term strategic planning, amidst market volatility and shifting client expectations.
Key Result Areas (KRAs)
1. Strategic Business Planning:
- Lead the formulation of the annual business plan for Group Fund Business, aligning targets with organizational objectives.
- Develop medium- and long-term strategies for product positioning, distribution, and profitability.
2. Governance & Investment Performance
- Strengthen governance mechanisms, particularly around XIRR reporting and distribution-level performance.
- Standardize investment performance reports, corpus simulations, and customer-facing templates across the Fund Business.
- Implement performance management frameworks to track and review business outcomes.
3. Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Design and deliver structured investment narratives and presentations for corporate clients, enabling informed decision-making.
- Build and refine engagement templates and models that enhance the quality and consistency of customer interactions.
- Partner with Sales and Distribution teams to ensure alignment between investment deliverables and client needs.
4. Strategic Initiatives
- Drive quarterly initiatives focused on Fund profitability, product innovation, and client-centric engagement.
- Conduct market research and competitor benchmarking to identify trends and inform differentiated strategies.
- Support digital initiatives and analytical models that enhance Fund performance visibility and decision-making.
5. Profitability & Rate Management
- Oversee interest rate declaration processes for Fund-linked products.
- Conduct monthly profitability reviews and present insights to senior leadership, including Zonal and Vertical Heads.
- Track and monitor key financial indicators such as YTM, spreads, and equity profit booking.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Financial modelling, investment analysis, and strategic planning skills.
- In-depth knowledge of investment performance metrics and profit management levers.
- Strong governance and process orientation with ability to design scalable frameworks.
- Effective communicator with strong stakeholder management capabilities.
- Ability to balance execution with long-term strategic thinking.
Qualifications & Experience
- MBA (Finance/Strategy) or equivalent qualification.
- 3 - 5 years of experience in BFSI, preferably in investments, strategy, or corporate finance.
- Exposure to fund management, group business, or institutional client engagement preferred.
