Job Summary
We are seeking an industry-leading Subject Matter Expert (SME) - Civil & Structural Systems Design to serve as the ultimate authority on structural engineering, heavy foundation design, and fast-track superstructures across our global AI data center portfolio.
You will establish structural baselines, direct dynamic/static load modeling, specify Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) frameworks, and evaluate heavy slab capabilities. This role guarantees our facilities safely support extreme floor loading demands imposed by heavy liquid cooling infrastructure (CDUs, fluid-filled piping headers, chiller plants) and ultra-dense GPU rack arrays operating at 100 kW to 150 kW+ per rack.
Key Responsibilities
1. High-Density Load Engineering & Structural Architecture
Heavy Floor Slab & Substructure Design: Design structural raft slabs, deep piling systems, and elevated data hall floors capable of supporting extreme localized static/dynamic loads (25-35+ kN/m² or high point loads) from dense GPU racks and fluid-filled equipment.
Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) & Steel Superstructures: Architect fast-track PEB structural steel frames, long-span roof trusses, and composite metal deck slabs engineered for rapid global deployment and modular expansion.
Vibration & Seismic Mitigation: Perform finite element analysis (FEA) and energetic response modeling to isolate structural vibrations caused by heavy rotating equipment (generators, chillers, high-flow pumps) and ensure high-level seismic resilience.
2. Civil Site, Heavy Equipment Pads & Envelope Systems
Heavy Utility & Yard Foundations: Specify reinforced concrete foundations for high-voltage transformers, multi-megawatt generator banks, cooling towers, adiabatic dry coolers, and large-capacity fuel storage vaults.
Liquid Piping Structural Supports: Design heavy-duty pipe bridge structures, overhead cable/pipe racking supports, and penetration details to carry high-diameter primary fluid distribution loops without compromising structural integrity.
Building Envelope Integrity:
Define specifications for tilt-up concrete, Insulated Metal Panels (IMP), blast resistance, wind-shear tolerance, and acoustic enclosure barriers.
3. Peer Review, Standards & Quality Control
Design Auditing & Review: Conduct rigorous peer reviews of structural calculations, foundation layouts, PEB shop drawings, and BIM models produced by third-party civil/structural design consultants.
Code & Structural Compliance: Enforce strict compliance with local structural building codes, IBC, ASCE 7, Eurocodes, and extreme environmental hazard criteria (high wind, seismic, flood protection).
Failure Analysis & Site Escalation: Act as the primary technical authority for evaluating concrete strength anomalies, slab deflection issues, structural crack investigations, or soil settlement risks during construction and commissioning.
