About the Role

Miles IT is looking for a Lead Database Administrator to serve as the technical architect and team lead for our data ecosystem. In this role, you will bridge our legacy on-premise SQL Server stability with the future of Azure cloud scalability. As the primary architect of our multi-tenant SaaS database strategy, you will safeguard system health, optimize performance, and mentor a talented team of DBAs and developers.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Roadmap: Drive long-term database architecture, cloud migration strategies, and multi-tenant SaaS scalability.
Setting Optimization: Oversee and tune Azure SQL Managed Instances and legacy on-premise SQL Server settings.
Performance Engineering: Solve complex performance bottlenecks via query optimization, index tuning, and concurrency management.
Uptime & Security: Design and enforce HA/DR strategies, security protocols,



and operational best practices to meet uptime SLAs.
Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and unblock DBAs and developers while establishing transparent technical standards.
Cross-Team Collaboration: Serve as the primary technical authority on database health in cross-functional planning meetings.

Qualifications
Experience: 8+ years of SQL Server DBA experience (including on-premise and Azure SQL Managed Instances) and 3+ years leading or mentoring technical teams.
Architecture Mastery: Proven track record in multi-tenant SaaS database design, HA/DR implementations, and cloud migrations.
Performance Tuning: Deep technical expertise in query optimization, execution plan analysis, and bottleneck troubleshooting.
Communication: Excellent spoken and written English skills to communicate complex data strategies clearly with US-based stakeholders.
Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
