Role & responsibilities
Design and develop sheet metal components and assemblies for DG sets and power-generation equipment using UG NX.
Develop 3D models and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings for:
DG set canopies/enclosures
Sheet metal panels and doors
Mounting brackets and supports
Base frames and fabricated structures
Electrical/control panel enclosures
Covers, guards, trays, and other fabricated components
Apply appropriate sheet metal design practices, including bend allowance, bend radius, K-factor, bend relief, thickness, and unfolding/development.
Prepare manufacturing drawings with appropriate dimensions, tolerances, GD&T;, welding symbols, and surface-finish requirements.
Generate and maintain BOMs and engineering documentation.
Ensure designs are suitable for manufacturing processes such as laser cutting, CNC punching, CNC bending, welding, fabrication, grinding, and assembly.
Participate in design reviews, prototype development, testing, and design validation.




Incorporate engineering changes and customer/project requirements into existing designs.
Identify prospects for design optimization, weight reduction, cost reduction, and improved manufacturability.
Support resolution of field and production-related design issues.

Preferred candidate profile
Robust hands-on experience with UG NX / Siemens NX.
Good knowledge of sheet metal modeling and assembly design.
Valuable understanding of GD&T; and engineering drawing standards.
Knowledge of DFM/DFA principles.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Understanding of materials such as mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium.
Basic understanding of mechanical fits, tolerances, fasteners, and welding practices.
Exposure to BOM preparation and engineering change management.
