Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Microservices Architect to perform the role of Engineering Manager, leading the architecture, design, planning, and delivery of large-scale eCommerce initiatives built on a Java-based microservices ecosystem. This role combines engineering leadership, solution architecture, and delivery ownership to ensure successful execution of strategic platform modernization and customer experience initiatives.

This is a technology-first, hands-on engineering leadership role. The successful candidate must remain actively involved in architecture, technical decision-making, engineering quality, and solution delivery while leading distributed engineering teams.

Core Requirements

- 15+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 5 years in engineering leadership, architecture, or delivery leadership roles.
- Design distributed data architectures and determine appropriate database strategies across relational, NoSQL, cache, search, and event-streaming platforms.
- Familiar with observability platforms like Jaeger, Prometheus, Grafana.
- Define microservices architecture, service boundaries, bounded contexts, and domain decomposition using DDD principles.
- Experience with service mesh technologies such as Istio or equivalent.
- Strong hands-on engineering background in Java and Spring Boot microservices, with the ability to review architecture, designs, APIs, and implementation approaches.
- Experience designing and delivering large-scale eCommerce or digital-commerce platforms.
- Deep understanding of REST APIs, distributed systems, integration patterns, event-driven architecture, and messaging or streaming technologies such as Kafka.
- Strong knowledge of cloud-native architecture and public cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, DevOps, observability, SRE practices, resiliency, and production operations.




- Strong understanding of database technologies, caching strategies, scalability, performance optimization, security, and high-volume platform readiness.
- Lead technical design reviews and guide teams on scalable, secure, maintainable, resilient, and high-performing solution designs.
- Collaborate closely with SRE and platform engineering teams to drive observability, reliability, performance optimization, capacity planning, and operational excellence.
- Define and enforce engineering standards, architecture principles, development practices, and technical governance.
- Foster a culture of engineering excellence through continuous improvement, innovation, automation, code quality, technical debt reduction, and adoption of modern engineering practices.
- Mentor engineering leads and senior engineers on architecture, design thinking, engineering best practices, problem solving, and technical decision-making while supporting their qualified growth.
- Champion engineering quality through code reviews, testing strategies, CI/CD practices, release governance, and production readiness assessments.
- Working knowledge of AI and GenAI concepts and their practical application in software development, engineering productivity, personalization, recommendation systems, and customer experience initiatives.
- Act as the primary technical and delivery leader for customer and internal stakeholders, driving technical discussions, resolving escalations, influencing solution decisions, and building stakeholder confidence.
- Strong stakeholder communication, project planning, risk management, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
- Proven experience leading distributed engineering teams, including offshore teams, and owning complex delivery from estimation through deployment and production stabilization.
- Coordinate execution across cross-functional teams, product & platform teams, and external vendors or partners involved in the client engagement.
