Research & Development Manager – Academic & Course Development

About the Role

ICA Edu Skills is looking for a Research & Development Manager – Academic & Course Development to support and lead the research, design, development, and continuous improvement of academic courses and learning programs, particularly in the areas of Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Taxation, and related professional skills.

The role will work closely with the Academic Team, Subject Matter Experts, Trainers, and Management to develop industry-relevant, practical, and learner-focused courses aligned with current market and employment requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Research & Industry Analysis

Conduct research on emerging skills, industry trends, job-market requirements, and changing learner needs in the Commerce, Accounting, Finance, and related domains.

Research new subjects, technologies, tools, accounting software, and qualified skills relevant to ICA’s courses.

Analyse competitor courses, certifications, and training programs.

Collect and analyse feedback from students, trainers, and industry professionals.

Prepare research findings and recommendations for new or improved courses.

2. Course & Curriculum Development

Develop and update course structures, curriculum frameworks, modules, and learning paths.

Define learning objectives, module outcomes, practical activities, and assessment methods.

Ensure courses are practical, industry-oriented, and aligned with current employment requirements.

Coordinate with Subject Matter Experts and trainers for course-content development.

Review and revise existing courses based on industry changes and feedback.

Develop and update courses related to Accounting, Finance, Taxation, GST, Tally/ERP, Excel, Business & Commerce, and other relevant areas.

3. Academic Content Development

Coordinate the development and review of:

Study materials

Presentation decks

Assignments

Projects

Case studies

Question banks

Assessments

Practical exercises

Accounting and finance-based practical activities

Review academic content for accuracy, quality, consistency, and relevance.

Ensure technical accuracy in accounting, finance, taxation, and commerce-related content.

Maintain standard formats and guidelines for course and content development.

4. Academic Team Coordination





Coordinate with academic team members and Subject Matter Experts for course-development projects.

Allocate tasks, track timelines, and ensure timely completion of deliverables.

Conduct regular reviews of course-development progress.

Support and guide team members in research and curriculum-development activities.

Ensure academic projects are completed according to defined quality standards and timelines.

5. Industry & SME Coordination

Interact with industry professionals and Subject Matter Experts to understand current skill requirements.

Incorporate industry feedback into curriculum and course development.

Identify practical requirements in areas such as accounting, taxation, finance, ERP, Excel, and business operations.

Support the development of practical projects, workshops, industry assignments, and experiential learning activities.

6. Course Quality & Continuous Improvement

Regularly review existing courses and identify content gaps.

Analyse student and trainer feedback to improve course effectiveness.

Ensure academic materials meet defined quality standards.

Track changes in accounting, taxation, finance, technology, and industry practices.

Recommend timely curriculum updates based on market and industry developments.

7. New Course Development

Identify opportunities for launching new courses based on market demand.

Research potential course topics, target learners, career opportunities, and industry requirements.

Prepare course proposals and curriculum frameworks for management review.

Support the academic team throughout the course-development and launch process.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Timely development and revision of courses.

Quality and relevance of academic content.

Number of new courses/modules developed.

Successful implementation of curriculum updates.

Student and trainer feedback on course quality.

Timely completion of academic R&D; projects.

Industry relevance and practical applicability of courses.

Accuracy and quality of Commerce, Accounting, Finance, and Taxation content.

Educational Qualification





Mandatory Qualification:

B.Com (Bachelor of Commerce) – Mandatory

M.Com (Master of Commerce)

Additional certification/coursework in Curriculum Development, Instructional Design, Learning & Development, Accounting, Finance, Taxation, GST, Tally/ERP, or Education Management will be an advantage.

2–5 years of relevant experience in:

Commerce/Accounting/Finance training

Experience in education, vocational training, skill development, EdTech, professional training, accounting training, or commerce education will be preferred.

Candidates with experience coordinating academic/content teams will have an added advantage.

Practical knowledge of Accounting, Finance, Taxation/GST, Tally/ERP, MS Excel, and Commerce subjects will be preferred.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate should be B.Com + M.Com qualified, research-oriented, proactive, creative, and academically inclined, with a strong understanding of Commerce, Accounting, Finance, and Taxation.

The candidate should be capable of understanding industry requirements and converting them into practical, structured, and employment-oriented learning programs.

The candidate should also be comfortable working with academic teams, trainers, and Subject Matter Experts and have a strong interest in education, curriculum innovation, course development, and skill development.
