What Youll Be Doing (Position Summary):

As a Senior Business Intelligence Consultant, you will lead the modernization of business reporting and analytics at CIBC, partnering closely with the Analytics Head Office in Toronto and key business stakeholders.

This role sits within the business intelligence function and is focused on business reporting, dashboarding, analytics, and migration of business-owned reporting assets and logic to modern cloud-based environments. You will help transform legacy SAS/SQL reporting into scalable, business-ready reporting solutions using SQL, Python, and Power BI or Tableau.

In addition to the existing BI responsibilities, this role requires strong experience in Azure Databricks, experience in building data products, and practical use of AI in previous roles to improve reporting quality, productivity, or modernization outcomes.

This is not a backend ETL pipeline engineering role or a source-system data migration role. The primary focus is on management reporting, dashboard development, ad hoc analysis, reporting logic modernization, business insight delivery, and enabling modern BI capabilities through cloud-based tools and data products.

How Youll Succeed

- Reporting & BI Solution Leadership: Lead the modernization of legacy reporting assets and deliver business-ready reporting solutions that support decision-making.
- Own the development and enhancement of dashboards, scorecards, recurring management reports, and ad hoc analyses.
- Deliver reporting solutions that are accurate, scalable, user-friendly, and aligned to business priorities.
- Business Partnership: Partner closely with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs, define KPIs and metrics, and translate business questions into actionable reporting solutions. Act as a trusted advisor on reporting design, metric interpretation, and business insight delivery.
- Present findings, reporting logic, and recommendations clearly to business audiences with strong communication and confidence.
- Reporting Migration & Modernization: Lead the migration of business reporting assets, SAS/SQL-based reporting logic, and analytical workflows into modern cloud-based reporting solutions. Convert legacy reporting code and logic into SQL- and Python-based solutions that preserve business meaning and reporting integrity.
- Rationalize, simplify, and modernize legacy reports and reporting processes for improved usability and efficiency.
- Dashboarding & Analytics: Develop advanced dashboards and business intelligence reports using Power BI or Tableau.
- Use SQL and Python for analysis, reporting logic, reconciliation, validation, and data preparation in support of reporting outcomes.
- Leverage Azure Databricks as part of the modern analytics ecosystem to support scalable BI and reporting use cases.
- Deliver ad hoc analysis and insight generation for business and leadership teams.
- Data Products: Contribute to the design, build,



and evolution of data products that enable reusable, trusted, and business-consumable data assets.
- Ensure data products are aligned with business outcomes, usability standards, and reporting requirements.
- Data Quality, Controls & Governance: Ensure reporting outputs are accurate, complete, traceable, and aligned to governance standards and controls.
- Document business logic, metric definitions, assumptions, and key transformations as needed.
- Identify and resolve data quality issues that affect reporting integrity.
- Stakeholder & Team Leadership: Build strong relationships with business partners, analytics teams, and related stakeholders across functions.
- Handle senior stakeholders effectively and demonstrate strong communication, executive presence, and confidence in discussions and presentations.
- Coach and support team members or junior analysts as appropriate, fostering strong reporting and analytical practices.
- Contribute thought leadership on BI/reporting modernization and business value delivery.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to automate repetitive reporting activities and improve reporting workflows.
- Use AI or automation tools where appropriate to support code conversion, reporting quality checks, productivity gains, and insight generation.
- Recommend improvements to reports, dashboards, business processes, data products, and reporting operating models.

Experience:

- 10+ years of experience in business intelligence, reporting, analytics, MIS, or business-facing data roles.
- Strong experience delivering management reporting, dashboards, ad hoc analysis, and KPI-based reporting.
- Proven experience modernizing or migrating legacy reporting assets, including SAS/SQL-based reporting logic.
- Robust track record of working directly with business stakeholders to define and deliver reporting solutions.
- Experience leading or significantly contributing to reporting transformation or reporting modernization initiatives.
- Strong experience in Azure Databricks as part of cloud-based analytics or reporting environments.
- Experience handling stakeholders across business and technology teams with strong communication and confidence.
- Experience building data products that support reporting, analytics, or business decision making.
- Hands-on experience using AI tools or automation in previous roles for reporting migration, reporting quality assurance, analytics workflows, or productivity improvement.t.

Who You Are:

- Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python.
- Strong hands-on experience with Power BI or Tableau; one of these should be a core strength.
- Deep experience in business reporting, dashboarding, analytics, and stakeholder-facing insight delivery.
- Strong understanding of KPI development, metric definition, reconciliation,



and reporting controls.
- Ability to translate business requirements into practical, high-quality reporting solutions.
- Robust communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated leadership capability, including coaching, mentoring, or leading workstreams.
- Experience with SAS and legacy reporting environments is strongly preferred.
- Strong experience with Azure Databricks is required. Experience building data products is highly valued.
- Familiarity with automation and AI-enabled productivity tools is required, with practical prior usage preferred.

Nice to Have:

- Exposure to Azure-based analytics environments.
- Experience with Databricks in business intelligence and analytics use cases.

- Candidates whose experience is primarily in ETL pipeline development, data ingestion, backend data engineering, cloud infrastructure, or source-to-target migration without strong business intelligence and reporting delivery experience may be less aligned to this role.
