Role Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled L3 Senior Network Engineer to provide advanced operational support, technical leadership, and escalation management across enterprise network infrastructures. In this role, you will handle critical incidents, perform deep-dive troubleshooting, manage change and capacity requirements, and drive service improvements across hybrid, multi-vendor environments.
This position requires extensive hands-on expertise in enterprise routing, switching, data center networking, and software-defined networking—specifically with Cisco Viptela SD-WAN / Versa SD-WAN, Cisco SD-Access (DNAC), and Cisco Nexus platforms.
Key ResponsibilitiesIncident & Escalation Management
- Act as the primary L3 technical escalation point for NOC L1 and L2 engineering teams on complex, business-critical network issues.
- Lead the rapid resolution of network incidents and service requests while strictly maintaining SLA compliance.
- Investigate advanced routing, switching, WAN, LAN, wireless, and data center incidents to ensure timely, sustainable fixes.
- Ownership of major incidents, emergency outages, and high-impact outages to minimize overall business disruption.
- Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on recurring or critical incidents and execute long-term preventive/corrective actions.
Operations & Technical Governance
- Deliver advanced support for global enterprise networks spanning branch, campus, data center, and WAN environments.
- Guide NOC L2 engineers on complex troubleshooting and configuration tasks.
- Perform lifecycle management, configuration adjustments, and administration in accordance with operational standards and security policies.
- Conduct strict Quality Assurance (QA) reviews on incident resolutions, system changes, and new configurations.
Performance Monitoring & Capacity Optimization
- Analyze network health metrics, tracking bandwidth, latency, device health, and throughput bottlenecks.
- Execute capacity planning initiatives by evaluating current utilization rates and forecasting future infrastructure needs.
- Formulate strategic recommendations for network optimization, performance tuning, and operational resilience.
Change Management & Continuous Improvement
- Play a central role in change management processes—conducting technical impact assessments, peer reviews, implementation, and post-change validation.
- Execute complex configuration changes following established enterprise best practices.
- Support network migration, expansion, hardware refresh, and technology upgrade projects in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Drive continuous service improvement (CSI) initiatives and optimize NOC operational workflows.
Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing
- Partner with Network Architects, Security Teams, Engineering Leads, and third-party vendors to resolve systemic issues.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), runbooks,
and knowledge base (KB) articles.
- Mentor, coach, and support skill development for L1 and L2 engineers to build overall team capability.
- Provide direct, clear communication to clients and stakeholders during critical incidents and change windows.
Skills & RequirementsMandatory Technical Skills
- Routing & Switching: Deep hands-on experience with L2/L3 enterprise and data center network operations (VLANs, STP, VTP, Data Center Zones, VRF/Virtual Routing, and cabling standards).
- Software-Defined Networking (SDN): Proven operational experience with Next-Gen SDN platforms, specifically Cisco Viptela SD-WAN (or Versa SD-WAN) and Cisco SD-Access (DNAC).
- Data Center Hardware: Direct hands-on experience configuring and operating Cisco Nexus and Cisco Catalyst switches.
- Managed Services: Background working within multi-vendor, hybrid enterprise managed service or NOC operations.
- Tools: Proficiency with enterprise fault management, performance monitoring, and capacity planning tools.
Preferred & Added Advantage
- Experience with Data Center architecture and operations.
- Familiarity with network automation, orchestration, and API-driven configuration management.
- Exposure to modern network observability platforms.
Professional & Functional Competencies
- Thorough understanding of ITIL frameworks (Incident, Problem, and Change Management).
- Familiarity with IT compliance and regulatory standards in enterprise environments.
- Exceptional analytical and diagnostic skills under high-pressure, critical outage conditions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong stakeholder management capability.
Education & Certifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) or any relevant graduation degree.
- Certifications (Preferred): Active CCNP Enterprise / Data Center, or CCIE (Enterprise / Routing & Switching / Data Center).
