4. Educational Qualifications/Skillsets Required:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.

Certifications in medical coding (CPC, CCS) or AI/ML are a strong plus.

8-12 years of progressive software engineering experience with at least 3–4 years in a technical lead or manager capacity.

Hands-on experience building and deploying NLP/NLU models, transformer-based architectures, and/or LLM-powered applications in production.

Understanding of US medical coding systems — ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS preferred

Familiarity with EHR/EMR data formats (HL7, FHIR, CDA)

Proficiency in Python and modern ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn); working knowledge of .NET, ReactJS,

Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP; containerization (Docker, Kubernetes); CI/CD tooling; and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation).

Proficiency in relational (PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Elasticsearch) databases; experience with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate) is a plus.

Proactive, hands on, and self-starter mindset

Excellent verbal and written English with strong client and stakeholder communication skills.

Bonus points:

• Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures for knowledge intensive medical applications.

Prior work with medical ontologies (SNOMED CT, RxNorm, LOINC) and clinical NLP toolkits (cTAKES, MedSpaCy).

Knowledge of revenue cycle management (RCM) workflows, denial management, and payer-specific coding rules.

Knowledge of cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), containers, and virtualization.

5. Roles and Responsibilities:

Own Technical Delivery: Architect, build, and ship the AI Medical Coding platform — including NLP pipelines, LLM-based code suggestion engines, computer-vision modules for chart extraction, and real-time coding assistance APIs.

Bridge Clinical & Engineering: Collaborate with medical coding SMEs, clinical analysts, and product managers to deeply understand coding guidelines (ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS Level II), payer rules, and compliance requirements, translating them into robust software specifications.

Drive AI/ML Strategy: Lead the evaluation, fine-tuning, and deployment of large language models and NLP frameworks (spaCy,



Hugging Face Transformers, OpenAI/Anthropic APIs) for automated code extraction, medical entity recognition, and clinical document understanding.

Build Data Pipelines: Design and maintain scalable data ingestion, annotation, training, and evaluation pipelines for medical coding models using Python, PySpark, and cloud native services (AWS SageMaker, Azure ML, or GCP Vertex AI). Page 2 of 3 Leader in Virtual Medical Office Solutions

Ensure Compliance & Quality: Implement rigorous validation frameworks that measure coding accuracy, specificity, and compliance against CMS/AMA guidelines; establish automated audit trails and model-performance dashboards.

Drive CI/CD & Architecture: Design cloud-native, microservices-based architecture; build and manage CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins), containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure-as-code.

Lead & Mentor Teams: Manage and grow multiple engineering pods; set goals, conduct code reviews, run sprint ceremonies, identify skill gaps, and proactively communicate status and blockers to leadership.

Stay Current: Continuously evaluate emerging AI/ML techniques, medical coding regulation updates, and industry best practices to keep the platform at the cutting edge.
