Job Purpose:

The Design Head is responsible for leading and managing the entire design function for water projects, ensuring all designs meet project goals, specifications, and timelines. This role involves strategic leadership, quality assurance, coordination with stakeholders, and overseeing the integration of multidisciplinary designs into successful project execution.

Key Focus/Must haves with the below exposure are critical for the role.

- Design of dam/Spillway/Barrages, Reservoirs, Canals, Tunnels, Water retaining Structures,
- Design structures in desalination treatment plants
- Flood Mitigation plans
- Exposure to value engineering and costing.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY

Strategic Leadership:

- Oversee and lead the entire design function for water projects, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality designs that meet project goals, specifications, and timelines
- Develop and implement design strategies that align with overall project objectives, ensuring innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions
- Provide technical leadership across all design disciplines, including civil, mechanical, electrical, and process design, ensuring cohesive and integrated project outcomes

Project Coordination and Stakeholder Management:

- Collaborate with project directors, engineering leads, and other senior stakeholders to ensure alignment of design activities with project goals, budgets, and timelines
- Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on all design-related matters, ensuring effective communication and collaboration across teams
- Coordinate with procurement, construction, and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of design deliverables into project execution

Quality Assurance, Compliance, and Risk Management:





- Establish and maintain rigorous quality control processes across all design activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and environmental considerations
- Conduct regular design reviews, audits, and value engineering assessments to optimize design efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness
- Identify potential design risks and implement mitigation strategies to address challenges related to technical feasibility, environmental impact, and project timelines

Vendor and Consultant Management:

- Manage relationships with external design consultants, ensuring their work aligns with project specifications, quality standards, and timelines
- Review and integrate external design submissions into the overall project design, ensuring consistency and compliance with project requirements
- Facilitate regular communication between internal design teams and external consultants to address design challenges, resolve issues, and ensure smooth collaboration

Team Leadership and Development:

- Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary design team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Oversee the allocation of design resources across projects, ensuring optimal team performance and delivery of high-quality design outputs
- Promote the qualified growth of team members by identifying training needs, facilitating skill development, and providing opportunities for career advancement

Education Qualification:
