Role & responsibilities

1. New Part Price Settlement (NPD Support)

• Lead commercial negotiations with suppliers for current components under NPD projects.

• Ensure competitive pricing aligned with target costing and should-cost models.

• Support RFQ finalization, supplier selection, and sourcing decisions.

• Collaborate with NPD, R&D;, and Finance to ensure cost feasibility before project approval.

2. Raw Material Indexing Mechanism

• Establish and manage RM indexation agreements with suppliers (steel, aluminium, rubber, etc.).

• Ensure transparent and structured price adjustment formulas linked to market indices.

• Monitor and validate RM price fluctuations and impact on component costing.

• Drive compliance and timely execution of indexing mechanisms across supplier base.

3. Commercial Settlement (Existing + NPD)

• Lead annual price negotiations (APN) and periodic cost reviews with suppliers.

• Drive closure of commercial settlements for engineering changes, VA/VE, and localization.

• Resolve commercial disputes and ensure continuity of supply.

• Maintain strong supplier relationships while ensuring cost competitiveness and contractual compliance

4. Cost Reduction & Value Engineering

• Drive commodity-level cost reduction initiatives through:

• VA/VE (Value Analysis / Value Engineering)

• Design optimization inputs with NPD/R&D;

• Alternate sourcing and benchmarking





• Participate in cross-functional cost reduction projects.

• Deliver annual cost reduction targets (YoY savings / productivity).

5. Commodity Strategy Development

• Develop and execute commodity strategies covering:

• Vendor rationalization

• Localization / import substitution

• Regionalization strategies

• Dual sourcing and risk mitigation

• Conduct market intelligence studies (price trends, supplier capabilities, global benchmarks).

• Identify and develop new suppliers with cost, capability, and capacity advantage.

6. Supplier Development & Performance Management

• Evaluate supplier performance on QCD (Quality, Cost, Delivery) metrics.

• Work with SQA, Manufacturing, and NPD teams for supplier capability enhancement.

• Ensure supplier readiness for new product launches (APQP, PPAP).

7. Cross-functional Collaboration

• Collaborate with:

o NPD & R&D; for design-to-cost and feasibility

o Manufacturing for process optimization and localization

o Finance – for costing validation and savings tracking

o Supply Chain – for continuity and risk mitigation

8. Governance & Compliance

• Ensure adherence to company sourcing policies, IATF 16949, and audit requirements.

• Maintain proper documentation of contracts, agreements, and commercial decisions.

• Ensure ethical sourcing practices and compliance with regulatory norms.
