Role & responsibilities:

- Identify, evaluate, and develop vendors for raw materials, fabricated items, castings, forgings, machined parts, and bought-out equipment.
- Float enquiries, prepare comparative statements, and negotiate prices, delivery terms, and payment conditions.
- Finalize purchase orders according to technical specifications, drawings, and project requirements.
- Work closely with Engineering, QA/QC, and Production teams to understand material specifications and project schedules.
- Ensure purchased materials comply with applicable codes and standards (ASME, IS, ASTM, DIN, etc.).
- Coordination with inspection agencies and vendors for stage and final inspections.
- Maintain approved vendor list and evaluate vendor performance on cost, quality, and delivery.
- Resolve vendor-related issues including delays, quality deviations, and shortages.
- Develop alternate vendors to reduce dependency and risk.




- Achieve cost reduction through value engineering, alternate sourcing, and negotiations.
- Ensure procurement is within approved budgets and project cost targets.
- Monitor market trends for steel, alloys, and critical engineering materials.
- Track material delivery schedules and ensure timely availability at site/factory.
- Coordinate with stores and logistics for material receipt and inventory control.
- Maintain purchase records, MIS reports, and documentation according to ISO procedures.
- Follow company procurement policies and statutory requirements.
- Ensure proper documentation for audits and internal controls.
- Use SAP systems for procurement activities.
