Senior Staff Backend Engineer

Role Overview :-

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Staff Backend Engineer / Principal Engineer to design, build, and lead core backend and computation services for a highly scalable, data-intensive platform.

This role is intended for an accomplished backend engineering professional who has progressed to Senior Staff, Principal, or equivalent technical leadership level and has demonstrated ownership of complex backend systems, architecture, scalability, reliability, and engineering standards.

The ideal candidate should have robust hands-on expertise in Python 3, SQL, Linux, Bash, Docker, Kubernetes, and backend system design, along with a proven track record of leading technical initiatives and mentoring engineers.

Key Responsibilities :-

- Design, develop, and own highly scalable backend and computation services.
- Drive architecture and technical decisions for complex, data-intensive systems.
- Build configuration-driven, reusable, and maintainable backend systems.
- Design complex SQL queries, data models, and data-processing workflows.
- Develop systems that are accurate, reliable, reproducible, testable, and auditable.
- Design solutions for multi-tenant, multi-cloud, and customer-hosted environments.
- Identify and resolve performance, scalability, reliability, and architectural challenges.
- Establish and maintain high standards for code quality, testing, observability, and system reliability.




- Conduct architecture and code reviews and provide technical direction to engineering teams.
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers and contribute to their technical growth.
- Collaborate closely with Data, AI/ML, Product, QA, and other engineering teams.
- Participate in technical planning, design discussions, implementation, testing, and production support.
- Work effectively in Linux-based environments and automate engineering workflows using Bash and other scripting tools.

Required Technical Skills

Core Backend Engineering :-

- 11+ years of relevant backend/software engineering experience.
- Solid hands-on experience with Python 3.
- Strong experience developing backend services using FastAPI or comparable Python frameworks.
- Excellent SQL skills with strong knowledge of relational databases and data modeling.
- Strong understanding of system design, scalability, performance, and distributed systems.

Linux & Scripting:-

- Strong hands-on experience with Linux Administration and Linux-based production environments.
- Strong Bash/shell scripting experience.
- Ability to troubleshoot application, system, performance, and production issues in Linux environments.

Containers & Infrastructure:-

- Strong practical experience with Docker.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerized application environments.
- Experience with Git and modern software development workflows.




- Understanding of CI/CD, deployment, monitoring, and production engineering practices.

Architecture & Engineering Quality:-

- Experience designing configuration-driven and/or rules-based architectures.
- Strong understanding of software testing, QA practices, test automation, and engineering quality standards.
- Experience building systems where accuracy, reproducibility, reliability, and auditability are critical.
- Strong experience with code reviews, technical documentation, engineering standards, and production readiness.

Leadership & Technical Ownership:-

The candidate should have demonstrated experience operating at a Senior Staff, Principal, or equivalent level, including:

- Owning architecture and technical direction for major backend systems.
- Making and driving complex technical decisions.
- Leading engineering initiatives across multiple teams or functions.
- Mentoring senior engineers and influencing engineering practices.
- Reviewing designs and code for scalability, maintainability, and reliability.
- Communicating technical decisions effectively with Engineering, Product, Data, AI/ML, and leadership teams.

Good to Have :-

- Terraform / Infrastructure as Code
- Advanced Kubernetes experience
- Cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- AI/ML platform or data-intensive application experience
- Finance, accounting, financial systems, or computational platforms
- Experience with multi-cloud or customer-hosted/on-premise deployments
- ISTQB certification or formal QA/testing background
- Experience with highly regulated or audit-sensitive systems
