Job Title: Tool Room Manager

Job Summary

The Tool Room Manager will oversee all operations of the in-house tool room, including the Tool design, development, Tool manufacturing, modification, and maintenance of Plastic Injection Moulds, GDC/ LPDC dies , Press Tools, and Production Jigs & Fixtures. The ideal candidate ensures zero breakdown time, manages raw material and spare parts budgeting, leads a team of skilled toolmakers, and minimizes lead times to support mass production.

Key Responsibilities

Tooling Development & Current Product Development (NPD)

- Design & Conceptualization: Review engineering drawings, guide tool designers, and approve structural concepts for injection moulds , press tools, and assembly fixtures.

Review Mold flow reports & provide inputs for optimisation

- Manufacturing Planning: Devise process routes and sequence operations for conventional and CNC machinery (VMC, EDM, Wire-Cut) to ensure rapid and accurate tool builds.
- Trial & Proving: Lead initial part trials, T1-T3 spotting, tool alignment, and troubleshooting of tools
- Vendor Operations: Oversee outsourced tool fabrication at external vendor sites, verifying part quality and timelines

Tool Room Operations & Maintenance

- Preventive Programs: Develop, schedule, and Time/shot-based preventive maintenance (PM)
- Breakdown Mitigation:



Command online line-breakdown interventions to minimize machine downtime on active shop floors.

Cost, Inventory & Quality Management [1]

- Budget Tracking: Track tool room cap-ex expenditures, estimate accurate tool manufacturing costs,
- Inventory Control: Forecast critical spare requirements (inserts, sprue bushings, guide pillars)

Required Technical Skills & Competencies

- Mould Expertise: Master-level grasp of hot runner systems, multi-cavity architectures, and complex plastic shrinkage properties.
- Press Tool Expertise: Deep understanding of progressive, blanking, piercing, Knifing, and Forming dies.
- Fixturing Expertise: Proficient in creating pneumatic, or manual production jigs and inspection gauges.
- Software Fluency: Active hands-on experience using CAD/CAM platforms such as Unigraphics NX or AutoCAD.
- Machining tolerances: Strong capability in interpreting complex GD&T; (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) callouts
- GDC :-GDC Dies manufacturing knowledge, secondary process sequencing knowledge

Minimum Qualifications & Education

- Education: Diploma in Tool & Die Making (GTTC, NTTF, or CIPET preferred), Post Graduate Diploma in Tool Design (PGTD
- Experience: Minimum 10+ years of direct experience in high-volume injection moulding and sheet metal stamping industries, with at least 3+ years in a leadership or managerial capacity.
