Job PurposeThe Procurement Engineer will manage the end-to-end procurement process for engineering and technical packages, ensuring alignment with project schedules, technical specifications, and quality standards. This role bridges the gap between engineering requirements and vendor delivery within the chemical, bulk drug, and API manufacturing sectors.

Key Responsibilities

1. Procurement Planning & Execution

- Develop and execute project-specific procurement plans aligned with overall engineering deliverables and timelines.
- Coordinate closely with various engineering disciplines to clarify and freeze technical requirements, drawings, and datasheets.
- Prepare, review, and issue comprehensive Requests for Quotations (RFQs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to qualified vendors.

2. Vendor Management & Technical Evaluation

- Identify and onboard potential suppliers in collaboration with the vendor development team.
- Source, obtain, and review technical and commercial quotations from suppliers.
- Facilitate Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE) in coordination with the Engineering and Project teams to ensure alignment with project standards.
- Prepare commercial comparison statements (tabulations) to support strategic vendor selection.




- Lead and participate in commercial negotiations regarding price, delivery schedules, payment terms, warranties, and liquidated damages.

3. Expediting & Delivery Monitoring

- Track purchase orders across all lifecycle stages: manufacturing, inspection, dispatch, and final site delivery.
- Anticipate supply chain bottlenecks and proactively resolve issues to prevent project delays.
- Coordinate with logistics and site teams to ensure seamless receipt of materials.

4. Quality Assurance & Compliance

- Verify that all purchased equipment, components, and materials strictly comply with approved specifications, engineering drawings, and quality plans.
- Partner with the internal QA/QC team and third-party inspection (TPI) agencies to schedule and witness required testing.

Candidate Profile

- Industry Experience: Minimum 1 year of procurement or project engineering experience within a Chemical, Bulk Drug, Pharma, or API manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills: Robust understanding of chemical process equipment, piping, instrumentation, and core materials. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and datasheets.
- Commercial Acumen: Proven experience in preparing commercial comparisons, evaluating bids, and negotiating terms.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills to manage both internal stakeholders and external vendors.
