Position: Data Analyst

Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Data Analyst who can collect, clean, analyse, interpret, and visually present data to support research, reporting, editorial, and organisational decision-making.

The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with large and complex datasets and have the ability to transform raw numbers into clear insights, charts, maps, visualisations, and meaningful stories.

Key Responsibilities

- Collect and organise data from reliable public, government, research, survey, and organisational sources.• Clean, structure, validate, and maintain datasets for analysis.• Analyse data to identify trends, patterns, relationships, anomalies, and significant changes.• Create effective data plots, charts, graphs, dashboards, and other visualisations.• Perform data mapping and geospatial analysis to present district-wise, constituency-wise, state-wise, or regional patterns.• Create thematic maps, heat maps, comparison maps, and other location-based visualisations.• Convert complex datasets into simple and understandable findings for non-technical audiences.• Support research teams, journalists, editors,



and management with data-backed insights.• Cross-check and verify data before publication or presentation.• Compare datasets from multiple sources and identify inconsistencies or gaps.• Maintain proper documentation of data sources, methodologies, assumptions, and calculations.• Build and maintain reusable datasets for future research and analysis.• Track significant indicators and periodically update datasets and dashboards.

Required Skills

Data Analysis

- Data cleaning and data validation• Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA)• Statistical analysis• Trend and comparative analysis• Ability to work with large datasets

Technical Skills

Candidates should preferably have experience with some of the following:

- R• Python• SQL• Excel / Google Sheets• Data wrapper / Flourish or similar visualisation platforms• Basic understanding of APIs and structured data formats such as CSV, JSON and XML

Research Ability

- Ability to locate credible datasets• Familiarity with government and public-data portals• Ability to read reports, statistical documents, survey methodologies, and technical notes• Strong fact-checking and source-verification skills
- Kannada language
