We are looking for fast, curious and reliable Weekend News Writers to join our weekend newsroom.

You'll be responsible for producing accurate, engaging and original news articles across a range of topics, including breaking news, health, consumer, entertainment, technology, royals, lifestyle and trending stories.

We're looking for writers who go beyond simply rewriting another publication. Every story should add value through stronger reporting, additional context, original angles or expert insights.

Key Responsibilities

- Write timely, engaging news articles assigned by the Weekend News Editor
- Pitch original story ideas with strong traffic potential
- Conduct independent research using credible sources
- Identify opportunities to strengthen stories with:
- Expert commentary
- Exclusive interviews
- Reddit and social media reactions
- Public records
- Additional reporting
- Ensure every article delivers on its assigned headline
- Follow British spelling, formatting and house style
- Meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy

Editorial Standards

Every article should:

- Answer the headline within the opening paragraphs
- Be original and add value beyond existing coverage
- Be factually accurate and properly sourced
- Use clear H2 subheadings in Title Case
- Avoid unnecessary filler and repetition
- Follow SEO best practices naturally
- Never be a summarised version of another publication's article

Requirements

- Excellent written English




- Strong news judgement
- Ability to research quickly and accurately
- Must have an active Reddit account and be familiar with how Reddit works
- Must be comfortable using Reddit as a news discovery and research tool
- Must understand subreddits, Reddit discussions, comments, upvotes and trending topics
- Familiarity with Google Search, Reddit, TikTok and X as news discovery tools
- Understanding of SEO and search intent is preferred
- Comfortable using AI tools responsibly to assist with research and editing, not replace original journalism

- Writes clean copy that requires minimal editing
- Understands what makes readers click
- Spots fresh angles others miss
- Can identify potential stories and emerging trends through Reddit and social media
- Knows how to verify information discovered on Reddit before using it in an article
- Works well under pressure
- Is eager to improve through editorial feedback

- Saturdays and Sundays
- 9:30 PM to 5:30 AM (India Standard Time)
- Remote
