Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable IBDP Global Politics Facilitator to join our academic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the IB Diploma Programme Global Politics curriculum through inquiry-based, concept-driven and student-centred learning.

The facilitator should encourage students to critically examine contemporary political issues, understand multiple perspectives, engage with real-world case studies, and develop the skills required for successful IB assessment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Teaching & Learning

- Plan and deliver engaging IBDP Global Politics lessons aligned with the latest IB curriculum.
- Develop students' understanding of political concepts through real-world examples and contemporary case studies.
- Facilitate discussions, debates, simulations, research activities and collaborative learning.
- Promote critical thinking, inquiry, analysis, evaluation and effective communication.
- Encourage students to examine political issues from local, national, international and global perspectives.
- Foster international-mindedness and respect for diverse and competing perspectives.

2. Curriculum Planning

- Develop and regularly update unit plans, schemes of work and learning resources.
- Cover the core areas of the Global Politics curriculum, including:
- Power, sovereignty and international relations

- Human rights

- Development

- Peace and conflict
- Support HL students with the relevant contemporary global political challenges and case studies.




- Connect classroom learning with current global affairs and relevant real-world contexts.

3. Assessment & Student Support

- Design and conduct formative and summative assessments in accordance with IB expectations.
- Prepare students for IB DP examinations and assessment requirements.
- Guide students through the Global Politics Engagement Project, including research, engagement, analysis and reflection.
- Provide constructive and timely feedback to students.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and achievement.
- Support differentiated learning based on individual student needs.

4. Student Development

- Develop students' research, communication, analytical and self-management skills.
- Encourage students to engage responsibly with contemporary political issues.
- Create a classroom environment where students can discuss sensitive and controversial issues respectfully.
- Support students in developing balanced, evidence-based arguments rather than simply presenting opinions.

5. Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities

- Work collaboratively with the Individuals & Societies department and IBDP team.
- Participate in curriculum planning, moderation and departmental meetings.
- Contribute to school events, academic initiatives and co-curricular activities.
- Maintain awareness of IB curriculum and assessment updates.
- Participate in relevant IB professional development opportunities where required.

Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Political Science, International Relations, Global Politics,



International Studies, History, Social Sciences or a related discipline.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject.
- Recognised teaching qualification/B.Ed. preferred.
- Strong knowledge of political science, international relations and contemporary global affairs.

Experience
- 25 years of teaching experience, preferably at senior secondary/IBDP level.
- Previous experience teaching IBDP Global Politics is highly desirable.
- Experience with IB assessment and student research projects is preferred.
- Candidates with experience in another internationally recognised curriculum may also be considered.

Preferred IB Experience
- IBDP Global Politics teaching experience.
- IB Category 1 or higher training in Global Politics is preferred.
- Familiarity with the current Global Politics curriculum and assessment framework.
- Experience guiding students through IB internal assessment/engagement projects.
