VMC Setter

Location: Kadathur ‘ Kunnathur – Sathy Road, Coimbatore

Qualification: ITI / Diploma / Mechanical

Experience: 3 -8 Years

Package: 3.60 Lacs – 4.50 Lacs + Food and Accommodation

Job Purpose To set up and operate Vertical Machining Centre (VMC) machines for manufacturing precision components as per engineering drawings, CNC programs, and production requirements while ensuring dimensional accuracy, quality, productivity, and safety.

Key Responsibilities

- Set up VMC machines for different components as per production requirements.
- Read and understand engineering drawings, component drawings, and work instructions.
- Select and install appropriate cutting tools, holders, collets, fixtures, and work-holding devices.
- Load, verify, and make necessary corrections to CNC programs.
- Set and adjust:
- Work offsets
- Tool offsets
- Tool length compensation
- Wear offsets
- Work coordinates
- Cutting parameters
- Perform job setting, tool setting, and component alignment accurate
- Operate VMC machines and monitor the machining process during production.
- Identify and rectify machining problems such as:
- Dimensional variation
- Tool wear
- Burrs
- Poor surface finish
- Tool breakage
- Chatter and vibration
- Use measuring instruments such as Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Bore Gauge,



and other inspection instruments.
- Make necessary tool offset and parameter corrections to maintain component quality.

Required Technical Skills

- Positive knowledge of VMC machine setting and operation
- Knowledge of CNC machining processes
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Knowledge of GD&T; and dimensional tolerances is preferred
- Knowledge of cutting tools and tool selection
- Knowledge of work-holding fixtures and component setting
- Knowledge of tool offsets and work offsets
- Basic knowledge of CNC programming and G-code/M-code

Preferred Experience

- Experience in CNC/VMC machining of precision components
- Experience in job setting and tool setting
- Experience with different materials such as MS, EN-series steels, SS, Aluminium, and cast components is preferred.
- Experience with Fanuc / Mitsubishi / Siemens or similar CNC controls is preferred.
