What awaits you/ Job Profile

- Develop and integrate Tailgate Systems for BMW Group vehicle programs.
- Support component development from concept phase through engineering release.
- Design and develop tailgate assemblies, including structural and closure-related components.
- Collaborate with global cross-functional teams, suppliers, and manufacturing partners.
- Drive vehicle integration, validation, and issue resolution activities.
- Ensure achievement of quality, cost, weight, timing, and functional targets.
- Support design reviews, engineering changes, and release management processes.
- Contribute to successful program delivery in accordance with BMW Group development standards and methodologies.
- Support prototype build activities and vehicle-level engineering assessments.

What should you bring along

- 3-6 years of experience in Automotive Closures, Body Engineering, or BIW Systems.
- Hands-on experience in Tailgate, Liftgate, Back Door, or Closure System development.
- Strong CATIA V5 skills with practical sheet metal and assembly design experience.
- Valuable understanding of automotive product development and engineering release processes.
- Knowledge of vehicle packaging, interfaces, and system integration.
- Understanding of closure kinematics, sealing concepts, and structural requirements.
- Knowledge of GD&T;,



tolerance stack-up, and DFM/DFA principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or related Engineering.
- Good English communication skills; German language skills are an added advantage.

Must have technical skill

- Tailgate / Liftgate / Back Door design and development experience.
- Sheet metal design, casting, plastic trim integration, and manufacturability understanding.
- CATIA V5 proficiency.
- Vehicle packaging and component integration know-how.
- Closure system architecture and interface management.
- Tailgate hinges, gas stays, latches, striker systems, and power tailgate mechanisms.
- Gap & Flush and tolerance management.
- GD&T; application and tolerance analysis.
- DFMEA and Engineering Change Management (ECM).
- DFM/DFA principles.
- Vehicle validation and countermeasure implementation.
- Supplier coordination and technical issue resolution.

Good to have Technical skills

- BMW or OEM product development experience.
- Knowledge of PLM/PDM tools and engineering release processes.
- Exposure to Power Operated Tailgate (POT) systems.
- Understanding of sealing systems, water management, and NVH considerations.
- Exposure to complete vehicle integration activities.
- Cost Optimization / Design-to-Cost methodologies.
- CAE or virtual validation exposure.
- Experience supporting prototype builds and vehicle-level issue resolution.
- Knowledge of lightweight materials such as Aluminum and Composite Tailgate solutions.
- Exposure to supplier development, tooling, and manufacturing processes.
