1. Job Purpose
n
The Training Officer will be responsible for ensuring that students are systematically trained, assessed and made placement-ready through structured employability, aptitude, communication, domain and interview-preparation interventions.
n
The role will focus on developing a measurable Student Placement Readiness Framework, identifying skill gaps, conducting targeted training, monitoring student progress and ensuring that eligible students are adequately prepared to participate confidently in recruitment processes.
n
2. Key Result Areas (KRAs)

A. Student Placement Readiness
n
n
- Develop and implement a structured placement-readiness framework for students.
n
- Conduct baseline and periodic assessments of students.
n
- Assess students on aptitude, reasoning, communication, technical/domain knowledge, GD and interview skills.
n
- Maintain a student-wise Placement Readiness Score/Index.
n
- Ensure 100% assessment coverage of eligible students.
n

B. Employability Skills Training
n
n
- Plan and conduct training programmes on:

C. Domain & Technical Readiness
n
n
- Identify domain-specific skill requirements based on recruiter Job Descriptions and industry requirements.

- Coordinate with Schools/Departments and faculty for domain-specific preparation.
n
- Develop sector-specific preparation modules for Finance, Marketing, HR, Operations, IT, BFSI and other relevant sectors.
n
- Ensure students understand the technical and functional expectations of target roles.
n

D. Mock Recruitment & Assessment
n
n
- Conduct regular mock aptitude tests, GDs, personal interviews and assessment-centre exercises.
n
- Organise mock placement drives simulating actual recruitment processes.
n
- Analyse student performance and identify individual gaps.
n
- Provide feedback and corrective action plans to students.
n
n
E. Student Skill Gap & Remedial Programme
n
n
- Identify students who are below the prescribed placement-readiness benchmark.
n
- Create remedial and additional training interventions.
n
- Maintain a list of students requiring special intervention.
n
- Monitor improvement through periodic reassessment.
n
n
F. Resume & Professional Profile Readiness
n
n
- Ensure every eligible student has a professionally prepared and verified resume.
n
- Facilitate LinkedIn/profile development.
n
- Conduct resume review and interview-profile sessions.
n
- Ensure students are prepared according to specific recruiter/job requirements.
n
n
G. Industry & Recruiter Alignment
n
n
- Study recruiter JDs and identify recurring skill requirements.
n
- Incorporate recruiter feedback into student training programmes.
n
- Maintain an Industry Skill Requirement Repository.
n
- Recommend changes in training modules based on placement trends and recruiter feedback.
n
n
H. Student Participation & Engagement
n
n
- Ensure students attend mandatory placement training programmes.
n
- Track attendance and participation.
n
- Counsel students regarding the importance of employability preparation.
n
- Coordinate with Programme Heads/Faculty for students with low participation.
n
n
I. Placement Readiness Certification
n
n
- Establish defined criteria for declaring a student "Placement Ready."
n
- Conduct final readiness assessments before major placement drives.
n
- Maintain student-wise readiness status.
n
- Ensure only adequately prepared students are recommended for relevant recruitment opportunities, wherever applicable.
n

J. Data, MIS & Reporting
n
n
- Maintain a comprehensive Placement Training Database.
n
- Prepare monthly reports covering:

- Number of students trained

- Students requiring intervention

- Submit the monthly Training & Placement Readiness Dashboard by the 5th of every month.

4. Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Own the Student Placement Readiness Process from assessment to final certification.
n
- Develop an annual and semester-wise training calendar.
n
- Coordinate with faculty, external trainers, industry professionals and placement teams.
n
- Maintain student-wise readiness dashboards.
n
- Identify high-risk students requiring intervention.
n
- Ensure training is practical, industry-oriented and outcome-driven.
n
- Introduce technology-enabled assessments and employability tools.
n
- Explore AI-based tools for resume building, mock interviews, communication assessment and personalised learning.
n
- Maintain records required for NAAC/NBA/AACSB and other institutional requirements.
n
- Support the T&P; Cell during recruitment drives whenever student training/readiness support is required.
n

6. Qualifications
n
Essential:

- Postgraduate degree in Management, Business Administration, HR, Education, Psychology, English, or a relevant discipline.

- Strong knowledge of employability and student development practices.
n
- Good communication and presentation skills.
n
- Proficiency in MS Office/Google Workspace and digital learning tools.
n

Desirable:

- Experience in a higher-education institution, Training & Placement Cell, corporate L&D;, employability training or recruitment.

- Experience in conducting aptitude, GD and interview preparation.

- Knowledge of assessment platforms and AI-enabled employability tools.

9. Role Boundary
n
Training Officer: Student readiness, employability training, assessment, skill-gap remediation and preparation.
n
Placement Team: Employer engagement, recruiter acquisition, job opportunities, placement drives and placement conversion.
n
The Training Officer shall work closely with the Placement Team to ensure that students are prepared before they enter the recruitment pipeline.
