We are expanding our Quality Engineering Practice and are looking for an experienced Test Lead – API & Functional Testing to lead testing activities across client engagements.

The role is primarily focused on API testing, API quality, test leadership, functional validation, and stakeholder management, with UI functional testing as a supporting responsibility.

What You Will Do

API Testing – Primary Responsibility

- Lead end-to-end API testing and validation, with strong focus on REST APIs.
- Analyze OpenAPI/Swagger specifications, API documentation, requirements, and acceptance criteria to define test coverage.
- Design and execute API tests covering functional, integration, regression, negative, smoke, sanity, and end-to-end scenarios.
- Validate HTTP methods, status codes, headers, parameters, authentication/authorization, request/response payloads, schemas, contracts, business rules, and error handling.
- Test API integrations, multi-step/chained workflows, and dependencies across applications and services.
- Validate API responses against business rules and backend data.
- Review API changes and assess their impact on existing functionality and regression coverage.
- Create and maintain reusable API test scenarios, test cases, collections, and test data.
- Identify gaps in API requirements, specifications, and test coverage.
- Collaborate with developers, architects, and product teams to investigate defects and integration issues.
- Contribute to Shift-Left API testing and continuous improvement of API quality and test coverage.

Functional UI Testing – Supporting Responsibility

- Perform manual functional testing of web applications and critical business workflows.
- Design and execute functional, regression, smoke, sanity, integration, and end-to-end UI tests.
- Validate workflows across UI, APIs,



and backend systems.
- Support UAT and identify UI/API regression scenarios suitable for automation.

Test Leadership & QA Ownership
- Own test planning, estimation, execution, reporting, and release readiness.
- Review requirements and specifications and define appropriate test scenarios, cases, data, and coverage.
- Lead defect identification, triage, prioritization, tracking, and closure.
- Monitor testing progress, risks, dependencies, blockers, and quality metrics.
- Prepare test execution reports, defect reports, quality dashboards, and release updates.
- Review test cases and ensure adherence to QA standards and best practices.
- Mentor QA engineers and drive continuous improvement in testing processes.

Stakeholder Management

- Work closely with developers, architects, BAs, product teams, QA engineers, and client stakeholders.
- Communicate testing progress, risks, defects, dependencies, and release readiness.
- Participate in client discussions around testing strategy, API quality, functional coverage, and release validation.
- Drive QA issues through to resolution and provide actionable quality insights.

What We're Looking For

- 5–8 years of hands-on experience in Software Testing / Quality Engineering.
- Strong hands-on REST API testing experience is mandatory.
- Strong understanding of REST, HTTP/HTTPS, authentication/authorization, API error handling, JSON, and API request/response validation.
- Experience testing API integrations, multi-system workflows, and backend data.
- Strong test design skills based on API specifications, business requirements, and acceptance criteria.
- Good hands-on experience in functional testing of web applications.
- Experience leading QA activities independently for projects, products, or releases.
- Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, testing methodologies, Agile/Scrum, and defect life cycle.
- Experience with defect tracking, triage, prioritization, and closure.
- Experience with tools such as Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI, Jira,



Azure DevOps, TestRail, Zephyr, or equivalent.
- Good understanding of databases and SQL for backend validation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Experience mentoring or leading QA engineers is an advantage.

API Technologies – Added Advantage

Experience beyond REST APIs will be highly valued, including:

- SOAP / Web Services
- GraphQL
- gRPC
- WebSockets
- OData
- Other service-based API architectures

Additional experience with OAuth 2.0, JWT, API Keys, API contract/schema testing, service virtualization/mocking, JSON/XML validation, and multi-service workflows is an advantage. Automation & Technical Skills – Added Advantage

Automation is not the primary requirement, but experience with the following is valued:

- REST Assured, Postman/Newman, Playwright API, or similar API automation tools.
- Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or similar UI automation tools.
- Basic understanding of CI/CD and tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
- Experience identifying API and functional regression scenarios suitable for automation.
- Understanding of reusable test design and automation frameworks.
- Exposure to AI-assisted testing, intelligent test generation, API test generation, or modern QA tools.

Any graduation/post-graduation degree.

We value strong testing fundamentals, practical API testing experience, analytical thinking, ownership, communication, and problem-solving ability over a specific academic specialization.

Important

REST API testing is mandatory for this role. Candidates whose experience is primarily limited to UI/manual testing without strong hands-on REST API testing experience will not be suitable.
