Job Description
Graphic Designer Job Responsibilities:
n
· 2. Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Design and manage all social media creatives, including static posts, carousels, reels covers, story templates, and campaign graphics for platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Twitter/X.
n
- Create and manage print media materials including brochures, pamphlets, event leaflets, prospectuses, newsletters, and institutional reports.
n
- Design large-format outputs such as banners, standees, hoardings, billboards, and campus signage for events, admissions drives, and institutional announcements.
n
- Develop advertisements for print (newspapers, magazines) and digital platforms (Google Display, social media ads, website banners) in line with campaign objectives.
n
- Design and maintain static web pages, landing pages, and digital assets in coordination with the web/IT team.
n
- Collaborate closely with the existing graphic designer to divide workload, maintain design consistency, and mentor/guide on brand guidelines where required.
n
- Work directly with the Dean, Branding & Communication to understand messaging priorities, translate concepts into visuals, and present design options for approval.
n
- Maintain and evolve the institute's visual brand identity (colors, typography, logo usage, templates) across all departments and campaigns.
n
- Coordinate with printers, vendors, and print houses for production, proofing, and quality control of print materials.
n
- Manage multiple design requests simultaneously from various departments (Admissions, Placement, Events, Academics, Administration) while maintaining priority and deadlines.
n
- Build and maintain a design asset library (templates, icons, photography, brand elements) for reuse and efficiency.
n
- Stay updated with current design trends, social media formats, and print production techniques relevant to the education sector.
n
- Support photography/videography coordination for events when required, and use visual assets in design output.
n
- Ensure all designs comply with brand guidelines, accreditation/regulatory display requirements and institutional standards.
n

3. Educational Qualifications
n
n
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Fine Arts, Multimedia, or a related field (e.g., BFA, B.Des, Diploma in Commercial Art/Applied Art).
n
- Additional certification in Graphic Design, UI/UX, or Digital Media Design will be an added advantage.
n
- A strong portfolio demonstrating both social media and print design work will be considered equally important as formal qualifications.
n
n
4. Experience Required
n
n
- Minimum 4 to 8 years of relevant, hands-on experience in graphic design, with a proven portfolio spanning both digital/social media and print media design.
n
- Prior experience working with an educational institute, university, corporate marketing/branding team, design agency, or media house is preferred.
n
- Demonstrated experience managing high design volume across multiple concurrent projects and stakeholders.
n
- Experience liaising with vendors/print houses for production of large-format print material (hoardings, banners, standees) is preferred.
n
- Experience mentoring or working alongside junior designers in a collaborative team setup.
n
n
5. Skills & Competencies
n
Technical / Design Skills
n
n
- Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite — Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign (mandatory); Figma, CorelDRAW, After Effects/Premiere Pro (preferred).
n
- Working knowledge of Canva or similar rapid-design tools for quick social media turnarounds.
n
- Strong understanding of layout, typography, color theory, and composition for both digital and print formats.
n
- Sound knowledge of print production processes: paper types, finishes, CMYK/RGB color modes, bleed/trim/safe areas, and pre-press file preparation.
n
- Understanding of platform-specific design specifications for social media (image sizes, aspect ratios, carousel formats, reels covers, etc.).
n
- Basic understanding of branding principles and ability to maintain visual consistency across all deliverables.
n
- Familiarity with large-format print design (hoardings, banners) including scale and resolution considerations.
n
- Basic knowledge of web design principles (for static page design) — Figma/Adobe XD exposure is a plus.
n
- Effective use of AI tools in graphic design is expected.

6. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- Timely delivery of design assets against agreed turnaround times (e.g., % of tasks delivered on/before deadline).
n
- Design quality and brand consistency score, as reviewed periodically by the Dean, Branding & Communication.
n
- Volume and variety of deliverables completed per month (social media creatives, print collateral, banners, etc.).
n
- Reduction in design revision cycles/rework due to errors or brand inconsistency.
n
- Successful and error-free execution of print material (no printing errors, correct specifications, on-time vendor coordination).
n
- Stakeholder satisfaction score from internal departments (Admissions, Events, Academics, Administration) requesting design support.
n
- Contribution to and maintenance of the brand asset/template library (measurable by templates created/updated).
n
- Successful collaboration and workload balance with the existing graphic designer, with no missed institutional deadlines.
n
n
7. Reporting & Working Relationships
n
n
- Reports To: Dean, Branding & Communication.
n
- Collaborates With: Existing Graphic Designer/Design Team (peer-level collaboration and workload sharing), Marketing & Social Media team, Admissions & Placement Cell, Event Committees, Academic Departments, and external vendors/print houses.
n
- Work Location: On-site at MIT Academy of Engineering campus, Pune (this is a work-from-office role; not remote or hybrid).
n

8. Compensation & Other Details
n
Compensation will be commensurate with experience and industry standards, as per institute norms. Exact salary band, benefits, and joining timeline will be finalized by Management based on the candidate's profile.
