1. About the Role The digital apps are built to help NGOs and the communities in various ways. But an app only creates impact when people actually use it with confidence. The Technology Adoption Champion is the bridge between the technology and the people on the ground.
You will be the first point of contact for NGO staff, field workers, and community members. You will teach them how to use the apps and bring their feedback back to the tech team. You will work in the field, in the local language, and in real time.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Training and sensitisation
● Conduct in-person training sessions and demos for NGO staff, and community members
● Explain what each app does, why it matters, and how it makes their work easier, in simple local language
● Run hands-on practice sessions
B. Real-time field support
● Provide quick, on-the-spot help when users face problems with apps, phones, or connectivity
● Troubleshoot common issues such as login problems, data entry errors, syncing failures, and permission settings
● Log every issue clearly and report the technical bugs to the development team with screenshots and details
C. Adoption tracking
● Monitor how many people are using the apps and how often
● Identify who is struggling or has stopped using the app, and find out why
● Follow up with users after training to make sure the learning has stuck
● Prepare short, regular reports on adoption, challenges, and success stories
D. Feedback and improvement
● Gather honest feedback from users on what is confusing, missing, or working well
● Share field insights with the product and tech team so the apps improve
● Help test new features with real users before wider rollout
E. Relationship building
● Build trust with NGO partners, local leaders, and communities
● Coordinate with NGO coordinators to plan training schedules and visits
● Be a friendly, patient, and approachable face of the technology team
3. Required Qualifications and Skills
Must have
● Graduate degree in any discipline
● Fluency in local languages for the assigned region, for example:
● Talasari: Marathi, Hindi
● Sri Sathya Sai District: Telugu
● Sundargarh: Odia, and preferably Hindi or local tribal languages
● Comfortable using smartphones, mobile apps, and basic web tools
● Excellent communication skills: able to explain technical things in very simple words
● Patience and empathy when working with first-time or low-confidence technology users
● Willingness to travel frequently and work in rural or remote areas
● Strong problem-solving ability and a "figure it out" attitude
● Two-wheeler for the purpose of travel and sensitization
Good to have (preferred)
● Prior experience in NGO, development sector, or community-based work
● Experience in training, tech support,
or a customer-facing role
● Ability to ride a two-wheeler and hold a valid driving licence
4. Personal Qualities We Look For
● Approachable and friendly: people should feel comfortable asking you "silly" questions
● Patient teacher: willing to explain the same thing many times, in many ways
● Adaptable: comfortable with changing schedules, new places, and current challenges
● Respectful of local culture: sensitive to community norms, especially in tribal and rural settings
● Reliable: shows up on time and follows through on promises
5. Working Conditions
● Primarily field-based, with regular visits to NGO offices, villages, and community centers
● Basic-connectivity environments are common, so offline problem-solving is part of the job
6. What Success Looks Like In the first 3 to 6 months, a successful Technology Adoption Champion will have:
● Trained the NGO teams and key community members in their location
● Reduced repeat support queries by giving clear guides and follow-up
● Built strong relationships with NGO partners and users
● Contributed at least a few improvement suggestions that the tech team acted on
7. What You Will Gain
● Direct, visible impact on communities through technology
● Hands-on experience across product support, training, and field research
● Exposure to data collection and digital tools used in the development sector
