01 Third Party Development Oversight

- This is the most immediate responsibility. Audit, monitor, and manage the external development team — reviewing code quality, architecture decisions, timelines, and deliverables.
- Ensure the third party isn't cutting corners or building something that creates problems at scale. Be the internal voice that holds them accountable.

02 Technical Due Diligence & Code Review

- Conduct a thorough review of everything built so far — architecture, codebase, database design, API structure, and security practices.
- Identify red flags, technical debt, and areas that need to be course-corrected before they become expensive problems later. Prevention is better than cure.

03 Product & Feature Alignment

- Ensure what the third party is building actually matches what the business needs.
- Translate your product vision into precise technical requirements that the external team works from — no ambiguity, no assumptions, no surprises at delivery. Simple yet precise

04 Real-Time Technology Validation

- Since real-time discovery is your core product, this person must specifically validate that the external team is handling live data and updates, location services, instant updates, and push notifications correctly and at a standard that will survive real user load.

05 Transition & Ownership Planning

- Build a explicit plan for when and how development moves in-house — or how the dependency on the third party gets reduced over time.
- Define what needs to be documented, handed over, and rebuilt if necessary, communication is key here.

06 Scalability & Architecture Decisions

- Even if someone else is writing the code right now, the Tech Head must own the architectural direction.
- Define how the platform will scale, what the infrastructure looks like, and ensure the third party is building toward that vision — not against it.

07 Security & Data Privacy

- Independently audit and enforce security standards across everything being built externally. Make sure there are no loose ends- User data, business data, and platform integrity cannot be left entirely in a third party's hands. You are the final checkpoint, be aware that things are in order

08 Tech Roadmap & Future Development

- Work with the the third party developer to define what comes after the current build — features, iterations, and expansions.
- Begin planning the internal engineering function that will eventually take over from the third party.

09 Vendor & Integration Management

- Own all third-party integrations — maps, location APIs, payment gateways, analytics — and ensure they are implemented correctly by the external team and remain manageable when brought in-house.

10 Internal Tech Culture Foundation

- Even before there's an internal team, this person begins laying the groundwork — coding standards, documentation practices, and engineering values that future hires will be onboarded into. You are the backbone of the entire application

01 Must-Haves

- 5+ years of software development experience with strong hands-on coding ability — they must be able to read, evaluate, and critique code written by others- Experience managing or auditing external/outsourced development teams — knows exactly what to look for and what questions to ask- Mobile app development expertise — React Native, Flutter,

or native iOS/Android — enough to evaluate what the third party is building with authority- Strong backend knowledge — APIs, databases, server architecture — to assess the full stack being built- Real-time technology proficiency — WebSockets, Firebase, or equivalent — critical given your product's core function- Cloud infrastructure knowledge — AWS, GCP, or Azure — to evaluate and own deployment and scalability decisions- Exceptional technical communication — must translate complex findings to you as a non-technical or semi-technical/layman terms which can be conveyed clearly and honestly-

02 Good to Have-

- Prior experience stepping into an existing project mid-development and course-correcting it- Experience transitioning a product from outsourced to in-house development- Familiarity with services which attract a huge amount of user traffic and discovery platform architecture- Understanding of B2B2C platform dynamics from a technical standpoint- Experience eventually building and leading an technical team from scratch

03 Personality Traits we're Looking For

- Skeptical by nature — doesn't take the third party's word for anything, verifies everything independently- Diplomatically firm — can push back on external developers professionally without creating conflict that derails the project- Big picture thinker — always building with the next 18 months in mind, not just the current sprint- Founder-aligned — understands they are protecting your product and your investment, not just doing a technical job- Calm in complexity — stepping into someone else's work mid-stream is messy; they thrive in that environment rather than shutting down- Curiosity over arrogance — should question everything and anything instead of pretentious awareness

Pay: ₹975,175.08 - ₹1,856,279.18 per year
