Key Responsibilities
A.
Blood Bank
Operations
- Supervise daily blood bank activities, including blood collection, component preparation, testing, storage and issue.
- Ensure availability and proper inventory management of blood and blood components.
- Monitor blood/component stock levels, expiry dates and proper storage conditions.
- Ensure proper segregation, identification, labeling and traceability of blood and blood components.
- Coordinate blood/component requirements with clinical departments and treating physicians.
B. Quality & Patient Safety
- Ensure compliance with applicable blood bank regulations, SOPs and hospital quality policies.
- Monitor adherence to SOPs for blood grouping, cross-matching, compatibility testing and component handling.
- Ensure maintenance of temperature records for blood storage equipment.
- Monitor documentation, registers, logs and electronic records.
- Ensure proper handling and investigation of transfusion reactions, adverse events and non-conformities.
- Participate in internal audits, quality audits and accreditation-related activities.
C.
Staff
Supervision
- Supervise Blood Bank Technicians, attendants and other assigned staff.
- Prepare/coordinate duty rosters and ensure adequate staffing across shifts.
- Monitor staff attendance, performance and adherence to departmental protocols.
- Identify training needs and coordinate competency assessment and refresher training.
- Ensure staff follow infection-control, biomedical-waste management and occupational-safety practices.
D.
Donor
Management
- Supervise donor registration, screening and blood collection processes.
- Ensure proper donor identification, consent and documentation.
- Ensure appropriate management of donor adverse reactions.
- Maintain confidentiality of donor information and records.
- Coordinate voluntary blood donation camps when assigned.
E. Inventory & Equipment Management
- Monitor availability of blood bags, reagents, consumables and other essential supplies.
- Maintain minimum/maximum stock levels and initiate timely indenting.
- Monitor calibration, preventive maintenance and functioning of blood bank equipment.
- Immediately report equipment breakdowns and arrange appropriate contingency measures.
F. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of blood collection, testing, component preparation, issue and disposal.
- Prepare periodic departmental reports and statistics.
- Ensure proper documentation of discarded/expired blood and blood components.
- Maintain records required for regulatory inspections and accreditation audits.
- Report significant incidents, shortages, discrepancies and quality issues to the appropriate authority.
Pay: From ₹30,000.00 per month
