Role Overview

Bhanzu is bringing to science what it built for math: a way of learning that replaces rote memorisation with real understanding. We're building a Grade 6–10 Science programme aligned to the NCERT curriculum, and we're looking for a Science SME to build its academic backbone.

This is not just a content-writing role. You'll decide what gets taught, in what order, how, and why. You'll turn textbooks into sessions that work in a live class, and you'll hold the scientific accuracy bar for everything we ship. You will deliver live sessions to Grade 6–10 students, adapt as they go, and treat every class as input for improving the next version.

Key Responsibilities

- Build curriculum architecture. Break NCERT chapters into pedagogically sound session sequences, each with a clear purpose, a realistic teaching load and a defensible place in the chapter. You decide what merges, what splits and what gets cut, and you can explain every call.
- Be the accuracy gatekeeper. Read textbooks critically. Catch errors in a worked example, the outdated fact,



and the leftover reference to content that was removed. Decide how our content handles each one without confusing students.
- Design for misconceptions. Know where students go wrong and build sessions that confront those ideas directly.
- Build coherence across grades and subjects. Map how ideas spiral from Grade 6 to Grade 10 and across physics, chemistry and biology, so a concept taught in Grade 9 is built on in Grade 10, not re-taught from scratch.
- Shape assessment. Design pre-assessments, post-assessments and session-level checks in current CBSE formats (competency-based, case-based, assertion-reason), and write original questions.
- Stay current on the curriculum. Track textbook releases, syllabus changes to adapt the programme quickly when they change.
- Bring AI into the workflow thoughtfully. Use AI tools to move faster through textbook analysis and first drafts, and be rigorous about verifying everything they produce.
- Teach to test and iterate. Deliver pilot sessions to identify attention drops, timing breaks, and then use the learnings to refine lesson plans.

What We're Looking For

- 2+ years teaching or developing secondary-level science, ideally with CBSE/NCERT experience.
- Deep subject expertise in at least one, but preferably all of physics, chemistry or biology, and working fluency across all three. Grade 6–10 science is increasingly integrated, and the best sessions draw on more than one discipline.
- A critical reader. You have solid,



defensible opinions on how a concept should be taught, and you can explain why one sequence works better than another.
- Pedagogical depth. You know the difference between covering content and building understanding, and you design for the second.
- Comfort with AI-assisted workflows. You use modern tools to raise quality and speed.

Nice to Have

- Experience designing live or online classes for students aged 11–16.
- Familiarity with Indian competitive-exam pathways (JEE/NEET foundation) or with CBSE's new Advanced-level science.
- Experience handling sensitive topics in age-appropriate, culturally aware ways.
- A portfolio of lesson plans, curriculum documents or assessments you can talk through with conviction.
