Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Special Purpose Machine Designer role based in Chennai. The role involves designing custom Special Purpose Machines and automation systems tailored to specific production requirements, including concept development, detailed mechanical design, and selection of components. The designer will prepare and review technical drawings and 3D models, collaborate with cross-functional teams (automation engineers, production, and commissioning), and ensure designs meet performance, safety, and quality standards.





Day-to-day responsibilities include supporting design reviews, optimizing existing machine designs, coordinating with suppliers for critical mechanical and automation components, and providing design support during fabrication, assembly, and testing. The role also includes documentation of design specifications, BOMs, and revision histories, and contributing to continuous improvement of design methodologies and standards.

Qualifications

- Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering with hands-on experience in Machine Design for industrial or automation applications.
- Ability to create and interpret Technical Drawings, including 2D drafts and 3D models using CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor).
- Knowledge of Automation principles, including integration of actuators, sensors, robotics, and control systems into mechanical designs.
- Understanding of Machinery standards, safety norms, and reliability requirements for Special Purpose Machines and production equipment.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
- Experience in SPM design, assembly line automation, or robotic systems is highly beneficial.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, communicate technical concepts clearly, and manage multiple projects.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes, materials selection, and cost-effective design practices.
