At Very Much Indian, we're looking for someone who wants to go there, understand who makes these textiles, and help turn them into collections women love to wear.
What you'll do
- Travel across India, especially rural regions and craft clusters, to discover handloom textiles, techniques and new craft possibilities
- Build lasting relationships with weavers, artisans and vendors, and handle negotiations and follow-ups
- Drive product development and sampling, from first swatch to final launch
- Own assortment planning, pricing inputs and demand planning across collections
- Track development, production timelines, quality and commercial targets
- Maintain SKU data and coordinate with inventory; flag fast- and slow-moving products
- Read sales trends and customer preferences, and turn them into product opportunities
- Work closely with design, production, operations and marketing teams
Who you are
- 3-4 years in merchandising, preferably in fashion, apparel, or textiles
- Deep knowledge of Indian handloom, textiles and traditional crafts
- Strong communicator and negotiator
- Organised, with excellent planning and follow-through
- Comfortable working independently across multiple vendors and projects
- Valuable grasp of fashion trends and product data
- Happy to travel extensively, including to remote craft clusters
- Curious about new weaves, techniques and the people behind them
This is a role for someone who doesn't just want to sell textiles, but wants to understand where they come from, who makes them, and what they can become next.
