Position: Design engineer Location(s): Bangalore Reporting To: Head – Sales / CEO

Experience Required: 8-10 years in Solar Power Plant EPC / Renewable Energy / Utility Scale, C&I; Projects

Role Overview

The Solar Design Engineer is responsible for designing, analysing, and optimising solar (PV) systems for residential, commercial, and utility-scale projects. This role involves system layout design, electrical engineering, performance modelling, and code compliance while working closely with sales, project management, procurement, and construction teams to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective solar solutions. The candidate will be responsible for end-to-end system design, technical analysis, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

· Design solar PV systems including module layout, inverter selection, string sizing, single-line diagrams, DC/AC cable sizing and MMS.

· Design HT/LT electrical systems and transformer yard for projects ranging from kW to MW scale.

· Ensure compliance with applicable IEC, IS, and utility standards and regulations.

· Strong understanding of DC/AC systems, LT/HT electrical design, and transformer yard/substation fundamentals.

· Knowledge of net metering, open access regulations, and grid interconnection requirements.

· Conduct site assessments using construction drawings, satellite imagery, and shading analysis tools.

· Perform energy yield assessments and system performance simulations using PVsyst.

· Prepare engineering drawings, calculations, BOM,



Costing Sheet and technical documentation for permitting, approvals, and construction.

· Support interconnection applications and coordinate with utility authorities as required.

· Review structural and electrical constraints and collaborate with structural engineering teams where necessary.

· Work closely with sales and project teams to optimize system cost, performance, and constructibility.

· Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting phases.

· Stay updated with emerging solar technologies, industry trends, and best practices.

· Proficient in PVsyst and AutoCAD.

Requirements

Candidate Profile

· Education: BE Electrical Engineering / Renewable Energy or related field.

Master’s degree (preferred but not mandatory).

· Experience:

o 8–10 years of experience in solar PV system design o Proficiency in solar design and modelling software

· Skills:

· Solar PV system design and optimization

· Electrical engineering and code compliance

· Energy modelling and performance analysis

· Cross-functional collaboration

· Technical documentation and reporting

· Attention to detail and quality assurance

Note-

Please note that .Will prefer candidates who have worked on both rooftop and ground mount projects with delivered projects post design. As this is 8-10 years' experience, the designation shall be Sr. Design Engineer.

Early joining with 1 month notice period is fine. Please do not shortlist people with 3 months notice period.
