Job Title: Software Asset Management (SAM) Engineer

Location: Bangalore Line of Business: HCL Software Job Summary The SAM Engineer is responsible for managing the end-to-end lifecycle of software assets across the Line of Business. This role ensures license compliance, optimizes software utilization and cost efficiency, and supports the implementation and continuous improvement of Software Asset Management (SAM) processes. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical capabilities, attention to detail, and hands-on experience with software licensing models, compliance frameworks, and audit readiness, along with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

Key Responsibilities Software Asset Lifecycle Management Manage end-to-end software lifecycle including acquisition, deployment, compliance, renewals, maintenance, and retirement Ensure timely execution of subscription and maintenance renewals to avoid service disruption Compliance &

- Risk Management Monitor software compliance position and identify potential risks or gaps Take proactive measures to mitigate compliance risks and ensure audit readiness Maintain alignment with SAM policies, governance standards, and organizational controls Stakeholder &
- Vendor Coordination Collaborate with Procurement, Security, Finance, and Business teams for approvals and execution Work closely with software vendors and publishers for licensing, renewals, and issue resolution Engage with end users/Product Business teams to validate requirements and upcoming renewals License Management &
- Optimization Manage license portals, entitlement data,



and publisher dashboards Perform regular analysis of software consumption vs. purchased licenses Identify cost optimization and savings opportunities and drive implementation Data Management &
- Reporting Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of licenses, contracts, and service agreements Generate periodic (quarterly/monthly) reports on software requests, renewals, and compliance metrics Support audit data requirements and reporting needs.

• Tool Utilization Support implementation and enhancement of SAM tool and automation initiatives Continuously improve SAM processes, workflows, and documentation for efficiency and scalability Leverage BigFix Tool for software inventory, discovery, and asset data management to support accurate license compliance, consumption analysis, lifecycle tracking, and SAM reporting. Expectations / Requirements Robust understanding of software licensing models, metrics, and compliance frameworks Proven experience in software asset management, license administration, and renewals Hands-on experience with ITSM/ticketing systems and SAM tools.
