About us

Bodhi Mind Care Hospital is a growing mental health service in Coimbatore, built on a UK model of psychiatric care. Schools are increasingly asking us to support children with additional needs, so we're building a dedicated school support team.

The role

This is a new role that combines two jobs. You'll work in a partner school as a shadow teacher, giving one-to-one support to a child with additional needs such as autism, ADHD, learning difficulties or behavioural difficulties. You'll also plan and coordinate activities for children within our school programmes. You'll work closely with our psychologists and clinical team, and with teachers and parents.

What you'll do

Shadow teaching

- Support a child in class every day with learning, attention, communication, behaviour and social interaction
- Put individualised support plans and behaviour strategies into practice, guided by Bodhi's clinical team
- Adapt classroom tasks and materials so the child can take part fully
- Help the child build independence, routine and confidence
- Keep daily notes and share regular progress updates with parents, teachers and the Bodhi team

Activities coordination

- Plan and run inclusive activities for children, such as wellbeing sessions, creative and play-based groups, and awareness events
- Coordinate schedules, materials and logistics with partner schools




- Support Bodhi's school wellbeing and awareness initiatives
- Record attendance and feedback, and help measure how activities benefit children

What we're looking for

- A degree in Special Education, Psychology, Child Development, Education or a related field (a B.Ed / D.Ed in Special Education is an advantage)
- Experience supporting children with autism, ADHD or other developmental needs, ideally in a school setting
- Awareness of ABA or other behavioural approaches is desirable
- Patience, warmth and a calm, consistent approach
- Valuable organisation and communication skills
- Fluency in English and Tamil
- Willingness to complete background and police verification checks (we take safeguarding seriously)
