Role Description The Senior Systems Engineer: MSP Tooling & Compliance will oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of systems and tooling used to support managed service provider (MSP) operations.

This is a full-time role based in Sri Lanka and involves managing infrastructure, ensuring compliance with standards and policies, and optimising system performance and reliability. Day-to-day responsibilities include proactively administering and monitoring systems, resolving complex technical issues, and providing escalation-level technical support to internal teams and clients.

You'll be proactively hunting for work to do, looking over open work and client systems and going, "Hey, how can we do this better, then owning it!

The role also includes designing and improving MSP tooling for ourselves, ensuring tooling feature completeness for us and our customers, documenting processes and configurations, and collaborating with stakeholders to align systems with business and regulatory requirements. The Senior Systems Engineer will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, security hardening, and best practices for system administration and compliance.

Qualifications:

- Candidates should have strong Systems Engineering and Systems Design skills to build, integrate,



and maintain MSP tooling and infrastructure.

- Candidates should possess System Administration expertise for managing servers, networks, cloud services, and configuration management.

- Candidates should have advanced Troubleshooting and Technical Support skills to diagnose complex issues, perform root-cause analysis, and support internal and client environments.

- Candidates should possess a solid understanding of compliance, security best practices, and documentation standards relevant to MSP operations.

- Relevant experience in MSP or IT services environments, including managing multi-tenant systems and automation tooling, is highly beneficial.

- A degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred, along with industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft, AWS, Linux, security or compliance frameworks).

- Strong communication skills, the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement are significant.

This is a serious, high-accountability internal role. It is not a customer-facing or reactive service-desk position.

You will join assetsaas.io’s Centre of Excellence in Colombo. Your work starts with our own systems, then extends across a growing global customer portfolio. You will review Secure Scores, monitoring coverage, ticket data, and compliance evidence; define what good looks like; identify gaps; drive remediation with delivery owners; and independently verify that the work is complete.

We want an engineer who finds issues before they become tickets.

You will work proactively across:

- Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune and Defender: Secure Score actions, privileged access, MFA and Conditional Access gaps, unmanaged or non-compliant devices, stale accounts and configuration drift.

- SentinelOne, Huntress and Solis SOC: missing or unhealthy agents, unresolved detections, risky exclusions and devices outside EDR coverage.

- ConnectSecure and Action1: exploitable vulnerabilities, unsupported software, failed patches, scan gaps and machines that are not reporting.

- Check Point Harmony Email and Archiving: phishing and impersonation controls, unprotected mailboxes, policy exceptions, email-security gaps and archive coverage.

- AvePoint Policies & Insights and Microsoft 365 Backup: overshared data, risky external access, sensitive-data exposure, failed backups, missing protection and recovery evidence.

- Nudge Security: shadow IT, risky SaaS and OAuth applications, stale accounts, weak MFA adoption and unmanaged business data.

- Gorelo and SolarWinds Service Desk: aged, incomplete or unassigned work; compliance actions without evidence; recurring operational failures; and remediation that has stalled.

- Auvik and FortiCloud: unmonitored network devices, missing collectors or SNMP coverage, configuration and firmware gaps, and incomplete asset visibility.

- Blumira and ThreatLocker: missing log sources, alert-tuning opportunities, application-control gaps and overly broad policy exceptions.

- Cyber insurance, Essential Eight, ISO and SMB1001 Diamond readiness: controls we claim to deliver but cannot yet prove with current evidence.

This role is designed to grow into leadership of our Sri Lanka compliance team, supporting global clients as assetsaas.io scales. You will help build the standards, evidence model, reporting discipline and team that make our promises real.
