About this Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with deep .NET expertise who works as an agentic developer by default. You direct coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot to produce production-quality code, and you own the specification, architecture, review gate, and production outcome of everything you ship. Your primary focus is building and scaling the services behind Kibo's commerce platform — order management, inventory, catalog, fulfillment, and payments — at a pace and quality bar that traditional development does not reach.

You work across the full Kibo backend stack with performance and observability treated as part of the deliverable, not an afterthought. This is a backend-weighted role: you are expected to be an expert in .NET and comfortable enough in React and TypeScript to deliver a complete feature slice, and to move into Node.js or Python whenever the problem lives there.

Key Responsibilities

1. Build the .NET microservices behind order management, inventory, catalog, fulfillment, and payments, and own each feature through specification, design, implementation, testing, rollout, monitoring, and production support.
2. Decompose work into agent-executable units and run parallel agent workstreams, engineering the context those agents operate in through rules files, reusable skills, and Model Context Protocol integrations so their output matches Kibo's architecture and security standards without correction.
3. Act as the final review gate on agent-generated code by enforcing SOLID design, security and PCI requirements, and performance standards, backed by deep unit, integration, and end-to-end test coverage.
4. Model data across relational and document stores with sound indexing and secure live migrations,



build event-driven flows with idempotent processing and retry and dead-letter handling, and apply distributed caching with a deliberate invalidation strategy.
5. Own search and performance as first-class deliverables, covering index design and relevance tuning for large multi-tenant catalogs as well as profiling, peak-season load testing, and removing bottlenecks across the service, cache, database, and messaging layers.
6. Ship and operate containerized services in production, owning deployment configuration, scaling behavior, safe rollback, and the logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting that catch issues before customers report them.
7. Solve the problems agents cannot, including distributed consistency, inventory and allocation correctness, event ordering, and multi-tenant scale, and drive ambiguous production issues to root cause so the underlying system is fixed rather than the symptom.
8. Shape scope and requirements directly with product and architecture partners, and contribute patterns, skills, and prompts back to the shared engineering library so your leverage compounds across the team.

Required Qualifications

1. 7+ years building production software in .NET and C#, including asynchronous programming and concurrency, dependency injection, and microservice design.
2. Demonstrated daily use of coding agents in production work,



with concrete examples of what you shipped, how you structured the context, and where you overrode the agent's output.
3. Working proficiency in React and TypeScript sufficient to deliver a full feature slice, plus production experience in Node.js or Python and the ability to pick up an unfamiliar language when the task requires it.
4. Strong distributed systems fundamentals, including messaging, idempotency, eventual consistency, failure modes, and observability.
5. Production depth in relational and document databases such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB, covering data modeling, indexing, query optimization, and safe migrations.
6. Hands-on experience with distributed caching and message-based architecture using tools such as Redis and RabbitMQ or Kafka, including invalidation strategy, retry, dead-lettering, and ordering guarantees.
7. Experience delivering and running services on containerized, cloud-native infrastructure with modern CI/CD on GCP or AWS, and instrumenting them well enough to be debugged in production.
8. Demonstrated performance engineering ability, including profiling and load testing real systems and measurable latency or throughput improvements you personally delivered.
9. Experience with a search platform such as Solr or Elasticsearch, including index design and relevance behavior.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Commerce domain depth in order management, inventory allocation, promotions, payments, or PCI-scoped systems.
2. Multi-tenant SaaS experience at enterprise scale.
3. Experience integrating LLM-backed capabilities into production backend services, including prompt and retrieval plumbing, guardrails, fallback behavior, and cost and latency controls.
