– Senior Registrar, Cardiac Anaesthesia

Designation: Senior Registrar – Cardiac Anaesthesia Department: Cardiac Anaesthesia / Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia

Reports To: Consultant / Head of Cardiac Anaesthesia

Location: Narayana Institute of Cradiac Science

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct pre-anaesthetic assessment and optimization of patients undergoing cardiac and cardiothoracic surgery.

- Provide anaesthesia for
- CABG and valve replacement/repair procedures
- Aortic and other major cardiothoracic surgeries
- Congenital cardiac procedures, as applicable
- Emergency and high-risk cardiac procedures

- Manage intraoperative haemodynamics using advanced monitoring techniques, including arterial and central venous monitoring and, where indicated, pulmonary artery catheterization and TEE.
- Assist with management of cardiopulmonary bypass, including initiation, maintenance and separation from bypass, in coordination with the cardiac surgical and perfusion teams.
- Manage difficult airway, major bleeding, coagulation abnormalities, arrhythmias and perioperative cardiovascular instability.




- Provide postoperative care in the cardiac surgical ICU, including mechanical ventilation, vasoactive/inotropic support and haemodynamic optimization.
- Participate in emergency cardiac and resuscitation services, including ACLS/CPR.
- Assist with perioperative TEE and other advanced cardiac monitoring, according to training and competency.
- Participate in multidisciplinary discussions with cardiac surgeons, cardiologists, intensivists and perfusionists.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, anaesthesia records and handover.
- Participate in teaching and supervision of junior residents/registrars and other trainees.
- Participate in departmental audits, quality-improvement initiatives, morbidity and mortality meetings, and clinical research where applicable.
- Follow hospital policies, infection-control practices, patient-safety standards and qualified/ethical guidelines.
- Participate in on-call, night and weekend duties as per departmental roster.
