Key Responsibilities

1. Data Modeling &

- DAX (The Engine)

- Design and implement Star Schema data models optimized for the VertiPaq engine.

- Write advanced, performant DAX (Time Intelligence, Row-Level Security, and complex filtering) to calculate insurance KPIs like Loss Ratios, IBNR (Incurred But Not Reported), and Persistency.

- Tackle many-to-many relationship challenges common in insurance data (e.g., one policy with multiple claimants).

2. Backend &

- SQL Engineering

- Develop and optimize complex SQL Stored Procedures and Views to preprocess data before it hits Power BI.

- Ensure Query Folding is maximized in Power Query (M) to reduce refresh times.

- Perform data profiling and validation to ensure the "Source of Truth" matches the dashboard.

3. Visualization &

- UX Design

- Build intuitive, executive-ready dashboards that follow IBCS (International Business Communication Standards) or similar best practices.

- Utilize advanced features like Bookmarks, Field Parameters, and Drill-throughs to provide a seamless user experience for claims adjusters and underwriters

Sigma

Computing

- Semantic Layer &
- Data Datasets:

Design, construct, and maintain scalable Sigma Data Datasets, custom SQL views, and logical models directly on cloud data warehouses.

- Write-back &

- Actionable Data Apps:

Build advanced Sigma workflows using input tables, parameters,



and action controls to support operational analytics and write-back functionality.

- Performance Tuning: Optimize Sigma calculations, materialized views, and underlying warehouse queries (pushdown SQL optimization) to handle large-scale datasets with high responsiveness.

5. Administration &

- Governance

- Manage Power BI Premium Capacity, Workspace permissions, and Row-Level Security (RLS).

- Set up and maintain On-Premises Data Gateways and automated refresh schedules.

- Lead the deployment process using ALM Tooling (Deployment Pipelines).

Technical Requirements

- Experience: 6+ years in Data Analytics, dedicated to Power BI & Sigma Comouting

- Insurance Domain: Proven experience working with Insurance data (Life, P&C;, or Health). Understanding of policy lifecycles is a massive plus.

- SQL Mastery: Expert-level SQL (T-SQL/PL-SQL) including window functions, CTEs, and performance tuning.

- Sigma Computing : Design, construct, and maintain scalable Sigma Data Datasets, custom SQL views, and logical models directly on cloud data warehouses.

- DAX Expert: Deep understanding of CALCULATE, filter context, transition context, and evaluation context.

- Tools: Proficiency in DAX Studio, Tabular Editor, and ALM Toolkit for model optimization.
