: Senior Physiotherapist
Position: Sr. Physiotherapist Pediatric & Disability Rehabilitation

About the Role
We are looking for a compassionate, skilled, and experienced Senior Physiotherapist to join our multidisciplinary rehabilitation team. The position is ideal for a physiotherapist who is passionate about working with children and persons with disabilities and is committed to improving functional independence, participation, mobility, and quality of life.
The Senior Physiotherapist will be responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments,
developing individualized therapy plans, delivering evidence-informed interventions,
monitoring outcomes, and working closely with families, caregivers, educators, and other professionals involved in the individual's care.
In addition to direct clinical responsibilities, the Senior Physiotherapist will play an important role in clinical supervision, mentoring junior therapists, maintaining quality standards,
developing therapy programs, and contributing to the overall growth of the rehabilitation services at the center.
Key Responsibilities
1. Clinical Assessment & Evaluation
• Conduct comprehensive physiotherapy assessments for children and persons with disabilities.
- Assess gross motor function, muscle strength, range of motion, muscle tone, posture,
balance, coordination, gait, mobility, endurance, and functional abilities.
- Identify physical, developmental, and functional limitations affecting participation and independence.
- Evaluate developmental milestones and motor development in children.
- Assess functional mobility and recommend appropriate mobility aids, orthoses,
positioning systems, and adaptive equipment where required.
- Establish appropriate baseline measures and functional goals for each client.
- Recognize red flags and clinical changes requiring referral or further medical evaluation.
1. Individualized Treatment Planning
• Develop individualized, goal-oriented physiotherapy intervention plans based on assessment findings.
- Establish short-term and long-term functional goals in collaboration with the client,
family, and multidisciplinary team.
- Design therapy programs appropriate to the individual's age, diagnosis, functional level, developmental stage, and personal goals.
- Regularly review and modify treatment plans based on progress and changing needs.
- Promote functional independence and participation in home, school, community, and other meaningful environments.
1. Physiotherapy Intervention
Provide appropriate evidence-informed interventions, which may include:
- Therapeutic exercises and strengthening programs.
- Neurodevelopmental and developmental interventions.
- Balance, coordination, and motor-control training.
- Gait training and mobility rehabilitation.
- Postural management and positioning.
- Stretching and range-of-motion interventions.
- Functional and task-oriented training.
- Gross motor development programs.
- Mobility and transfer training.
- Rehabilitation following orthopedic or neurological conditions.
- Respiratory physiotherapy where clinically appropriate.
- Pain management and musculoskeletal rehabilitation.
- Prevention and management of secondary complications associated with disability.
- Exercise and activity programs promoting long-term health and participation.
1. Pediatric Rehabilitation
• Work with children with developmental delays, cerebral palsy, neuromuscular conditions, genetic conditions, neurological disorders, orthopedic conditions, and other disabilities.
- Support children in achieving age-appropriate functional and developmental goals.
- Use play-based, child-friendly, and engaging therapeutic approaches.
- Adapt therapy activities according to the child's sensory, cognitive, behavioral,
communication, and physical needs.
- Collaborate with parents and caregivers to integrate therapeutic activities into everyday routines.
- Promote participation in school, play, sports, and community activities wherever appropriate.
1. Disability Rehabilitation & Functional Independence
• Focus on improving independence rather than only treating impairments.
- Develop interventions that support mobility, transfers, self-care, communication access, education, work, recreation, and community participation.
- Assist individuals and families in understanding long-term rehabilitation needs.
- Promote appropriate physical activity and healthy lifestyle practices.
- Support prevention of contractures, deformities, pressure-related complications, falls,
deconditioning, and other secondary complications.
1. Family & Caregiver Engagement
• Educate parents, caregivers, and family members regarding the individual's condition, therapy goals, prognosis, and home program.
- Demonstrate exercises, positioning, transfers, handling techniques, and functional activities.
- Develop practical home exercise and activity programs that families can realistically implement.
- Encourage families to actively participate in rehabilitation.
- Communicate progress, challenges, and recommendations in a clear, respectful, and empathetic manner.
- Address caregiver concerns and provide appropriate guidance within the scope of physiotherapy practice.
1. Multidisciplinary Collaboration
Work closely with professionals such as:
- Occupational Therapists
- Speech and Language Therapists
- Special Educators
- Psychologists / Counselors
- Developmental Pediatricians
- Neurologists / Orthopedic Specialists
- Rehabilitation Physicians
- Nurses and other healthcare professionals
- Participate in multidisciplinary assessments, case discussions, review meetings, and care planning.
- Contribute physiotherapy expertise toward integrated rehabilitation goals.
- Ensure consistency of therapeutic goals and recommendations across disciplines.
1. Clinical Documentation & Reporting
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical records.
- Document assessments, treatment plans, interventions, progress, outcomes, and discharge recommendations.
- Prepare periodic progress reports and assessment reports when required.
- Maintain appropriate outcome measures and clinical indicators.
- Ensure documentation meets the center's clinical and quality standards.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to applicable qualified and organizational policies.
1. Clinical Supervision & Mentoring
As a senior member of the team, the candidate will be expected to:
- Guide and mentor junior physiotherapists and therapy staff.
- Provide clinical supervision and feedback.
- Support therapists in assessment, treatment planning, and complex cases.
- Conduct or facilitate case reviews and clinical discussions.
- Encourage evidence-based and ethical clinical practice.
- Identify training needs within the physiotherapy team.
- Support onboarding and orientation of new physiotherapy staff.
- Contribute to development of clinical protocols and standard operating procedures.
1. Quality Improvement & Professional Development
• Stay updated with current evidence, clinical guidelines, and best practices in pediatric and disability rehabilitation.
- Participate in internal training, workshops, seminars, and continuing professional development activities.
- Contribute to clinical audits and quality-improvement initiatives.
- Assist in developing new therapy programs and rehabilitation services.
- Participate in outcome measurement and service evaluation.
- Promote a culture of safety, dignity, inclusion, and client-centered care.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy (BPT) from a recognized institution.
- Master's degree in Physiotherapy / Rehabilitation / Pediatric Physiotherapy /
Neurological Physiotherapy or a related specialization will be an advantage.
- Valid registration with the relevant professional/regulatory body, where applicable.
Experience
- Minimum 4–10 years of relevant clinical experience, preferably with significant experience in pediatric rehabilitation and/or disability services.
- Experience working with children with developmental, neurological, orthopedic, or multiple disabilities is highly desirable.
- Experience in a multidisciplinary rehabilitation setting is preferred.
- Prior experience supervising, mentoring, or leading junior therapists will be an advantage.
