J.K. Subsea Engineering Pvt. Ltd. is an engineering company serving industrial, offshore, subsea, oil & gas and other specialized engineering sectors.

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer who can work on practical engineering design activities involving mechanical components, assemblies, piping-related products, fittings, equipment and customized engineering requirements.

The position is suitable for a Mechanical Engineer who enjoys actual engineering and design work and is comfortable working with drawings, dimensions, materials, specifications and manufacturing requirements.

Job Responsibilities

- Prepare 2D and 3D mechanical drawings for components, assemblies and engineering products.
- Develop and modify mechanical designs based on customer requirements and technical specifications.
- Prepare detailed manufacturing drawings with dimensions, tolerances, material specifications and other relevant details.
- Understand customer drawings, specifications, BOMs and technical requirements.
- Prepare and maintain BOMs (Bill of Materials).
- Assist in selection of suitable materials, components and manufacturing processes.
- Coordinate with production, purchase, suppliers and vendors regarding design and manufacturing requirements.
- Review drawings received from customers and identify technical requirements or discrepancies.
- Make design modifications based on customer feedback and manufacturing requirements.
- Prepare design calculations wherever required.
- Support the engineering team in development of customized products and assemblies.
- Assist in preparation of technical documentation, datasheets and product drawings.
- Ensure drawings are properly revised, controlled and maintained.
- Coordinate with suppliers/manufacturers for technical clarifications.
- Support the Sales and Engineering teams in understanding technical requirements during quotation and order execution.




- Carry out basic engineering calculations related to dimensions, loads, pressure, material selection and mechanical components as applicable to the product.
- Participate in product improvement and value-engineering activities.

Required Technical Skills The candidate should have working knowledge of:
- Mechanical engineering drawing and drafting
- 2D CAD software – AutoCAD preferred
- 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks / Solid Edge / Inventor / Creo or equivalent
- GD&T; basics
- Engineering tolerances and fits
- Material specifications
- Manufacturing processes
- Machining and fabrication basics
- BOM preparation
- Reading engineering drawings
- Basic mechanical design calculations
- MS Excel and MS Office

Knowledge of pressure-rated components, piping, fittings, valves, hydraulic systems, instrumentation or offshore equipment will be an advantage.

Educational Qualification

Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering/Instrumentation Engineering/ Production Engineering/

Candidates with a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and relevant practical design experience may also be considered.

Experience

2–5 years of relevant mechanical design experience preferred.

We are looking for a practical Design Engineer, not someone who is only familiar with CAD software. The candidate should be able to:

- Understand what is being designed and why.
- Convert an engineering requirement into a workable drawing.




- Think about how a component will actually be manufactured.
- Understand dimensions, tolerances and materials.
- Communicate with production and vendors regarding drawings.
- Make corrections and revisions independently.
- Take ownership of assigned design work.
- Learn new products and engineering applications.

Freshers with robust practical knowledge of CAD and mechanical design may also be considered for a junior position.

Key Performance Areas (KRA)

The Design Engineer will be responsible for:
- Timely completion of drawings and design assignments.
- Accuracy of 2D and 3D drawings.
- Correct dimensions, tolerances and material specifications.
- Proper preparation and maintenance of BOMs.
- Minimizing drawing errors and revisions.
- Coordination with production, purchase and suppliers.
- Timely completion of customer drawing modifications.
- Supporting development of customized engineering products.
- Maintaining proper revision and document control.
- Providing practical and manufacturable design solutions.

Preferred Candidate Profile A candidate with 2–5 years of practical mechanical design experience will be preferred. Experience in an engineering manufacturing, fabrication, industrial equipment, hydraulic, piping, oil & gas, offshore or similar environment will be an advantage.

The candidate should be comfortable working in a small/medium-sized engineering organization, where the role may involve both design and coordination rather than being restricted to only CAD drafting.

Important

Practical knowledge and ability to execute design work will be given more importance than qualification alone.

Candidates should be willing to work closely with other departments and take responsibility for their assigned engineering work.

Salary

₹25,000 – ₹40,000 per month, depending on experience, technical skills and suitability for the role.

Salary will be discussed based on the candidate's actual practical design capability and experience.
