2. JD for Senior Manager/Head - IT

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

1. Develop and implement the IT strategy in alignment with institutional objectives.
2. Drive innovation and transformation through the adoption of cutting-edge technologies.
3. Collaborate with management and leadership to integrate IT into academic, administrative, research and employee functions.

IT Operations Management:

1. Oversee the day-to-day management of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and data centers.
2. Ensure the availability, reliability, and scalability of IT systems and services.
3. Manage software and hardware procurement, deployment, and lifecycle.
4. Supervise IT support services, ensuring prompt resolution of issues and excellent user experiences.

Cybersecurity and Compliance:

1. Implement and enforce robust cybersecurity measures to protect data and systems.
2. Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements related to IT.
3. Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

Team Leadership:

1. Lead, mentor, and manage 15+ team members,



fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
2. Define roles, responsibilities, and professional development plans for team members.
3. Build robust cross-functional relationships with faculty, staff, students and different vendors

Project and Budget Management:

1. Plan and manage the IT budget, optimizing resource allocation.
2. Oversee IT projects, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget.
3. Evaluate and negotiate contracts with external vendors and service providers.

Vendor Management:

1. Act as the primary liaison between the IT department and vendors
2. Be in regular contact with vendors to satisfy the existing IT requirements
3. Bring in new vendors if necessary to optimize the current setup

IT Governance and Policy Development: Establish IT policies, procedures, and best practices across the university and schools.

Define IT standards for procurement, usage, and data management.

Ensure equitable access to IT resources for students, staff, and faculty.

Communication and Reporting:

Provide regular updates to senior management on IT performance, challenges, and opportunities.

Maintain transparency in IT operations through detailed reporting and analytics.

Qualifications and Experience:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
2. Should have a minimum of 8+ years leadership experience in dealing with IT hardware, security and networking. Academic environment would be a plus
3. Strong understanding of higher education technology trends and challenges.
4. Expertise in IT infrastructure, enterprise systems, and cybersecurity best practices.
5. Proven experience in strategic planning, team leadership, and budget management.
