Procurement Lead, BESS

Department: Energy Storage

Location: Head Office, Surat, with site visits as required

Reports to: Head of Energy Storage

Experience: 8 to 12 years

Qualification: BE / BTech in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering; MBA in Operations or Supply Chain preferred

Role

Lead end-to-end procurement for battery energy storage projects, from vendor development and techno-commercial finalisation through to delivery at site.

Responsibilities

Sourcing and Vendor Management

- Develop and maintain the approved vendor base for DC blocks, PCS, transformers, MV switchgear, cables, HVAC, fire safety and EMS/SCADA.
- Float enquiries with clear scope boundaries so that offers are comparable on a like-for-like basis.
- Prepare techno-commercial comparisons jointly with the engineering team and recommend vendor selection.
- Lead price negotiation, payment terms, warranty, performance guarantee and LD terms with vendors.
- Track market prices of cells, DC blocks and key BOP items and provide cost inputs for tenders.

Import and Order Execution





- Manage imports from China and other countries: Incoterms, LC and payment documentation, insurance and customs clearance.
- Coordinate with CHA and logistics partners for shipping, port clearance and delivery to site.
- Issue and manage purchase orders in SAP, and track delivery schedules against project milestones.
- Coordinate inspection, factory acceptance tests and dispatch clearance with the quality and engineering teams.
- Resolve vendor issues on delays, shortages, damages and warranty claims.

Requirements

- Minimum 3 years in procurement for utility scale BESS or solar projects.
- Hands-on experience of imports from China, including LC, customs and logistics.
- Robust negotiation, commercial and contract management skills.
- Working knowledge of SAP and advanced Excel.
- Experience with central or state utility EPC projects is preferred.

Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
