Senior Design Engineer

Position Overview

Lead the design, development, validation, and continuous improvement of Bookbinding, Graphics Arts, and Print-Finishing Machines. Provide technical leadership for assigned projects from concept development through production release while driving innovation, automation integration, Industry 4.0 readiness, modular design, standardization, value engineering, and cost optimization. Contribute for team building, ensure compliance with engineering standards and ISO documentation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, manufacturable, and high-performance machine solutions.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead complete machine design projects from concept development through production release.
- Develop machine concepts, layouts, 3D models, detailed drawings, engineering calculations, BOMs, technical specifications, and engineering documentation.
- Review and approve designs, drawings, BOMs, calculations, and validation documents.
- Lead Design Analysis (DFMEA, DFM, DFA, DRBFM, and DFX) Design Verification, Product Validation, tolerance analysis, risk assessment, and design reviews.
- Lead prototype development, machine trials, FAT, customer validation, field performance evaluation, and continuous product improvement.
- Drive modular design, component standardization, value engineering, cost optimization, and identification of alternative materials and manufacturing methods.
- Support automation integration involving pneumatics, servo systems, sensors, VFDs, motion control systems, and Industry 4.0 initiatives including machine connectivity, diagnostics, machine health monitoring, and data acquisition.
- Coordinate with Production, Planning, QA & QC,



Automation, Electrical, Purchase, Supply Chain, Service, and Sourcing teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Support supplier development, manufacturability reviews, technical discussions, component qualification, and resolution of technical queries.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015, engineering documentation, ECN/ECR, revision control, and design traceability.
- Enhance team technical ability by guiding, working along with them, design reviews, knowledge sharing, and on-the-job training.

Technical Competencies

- Machine Design & Product Development of High-Speed Industrial Special Purpose Machines (SPMs)
- Knowledge in Graphics Arts, Print-Finishing & Bookbinding Machinery will be highly advantageous
- Mechanical Systems: Gear Drives, Cam Mechanisms, Bearings, Shafts, Belt & Chain Drives, Motion Transmission Systems
- Sheet Metal, Fabrication, Castings, Plastic & Machined Component Design, Material Selection, and Manufacturing Processes
- Knowledge of Servo Systems, Sensors, Motion Controllers, VFDs, Encoders, and Basic PLC Interfaces
- Industry 4.0, Smart Manufacturing, Machine Connectivity, Data Acquisition, Digitalization, Machine Health Monitoring, and Diagnostics
- Advanced Solid Works, GD&T;, Engineering Calculations, Tolerance Analysis, and Design Validation
- Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA), kinematic analysis, and motion studies is beneficial
- DFMEA, DFM, DFA, DRBFM, DFX, Root Cause Analysis,

Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering.

Diploma holders with exceptional relevant experience may also be considered.
- 812 years of hands-on experience in High-Speed Industrial SPMs, Automation Systems, Graphics Arts, Print-Finishing Equipment, or Bookbinding Machines.
- Experience throughout the complete Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC), including concept design, prototype development, validation, production release, and field support.
- Robust knowledge of machine design, manufacturing processes, automation integration, design validation, engineering documentation, ERP/BOM management, and ISO 9001:2015 systems.
- Proficiency in Solid Works, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office, with experience in supplier technical discussions, manufacturability reviews, and cross-functional project execution.
