Job Title: Principal Officer / Senior Compliance Officer
Location: Gandhinagar, Gujarat
Experience: 8+ years
Preferred Experience: IFSCA / SEBI / RBI / IRDAI regulated entities
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Principal Officer / Senior Compliance Officer to lead regulatory compliance and financial-crime compliance activities for a financial-services / FinTech business operating from GIFT City, IFSC.
The role will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a robust compliance framework, ensuring adherence to applicable regulatory requirements, managing regulatory filings and returns, overseeing AML/KYC/CFT controls, and acting as a key interface with regulators, auditors and internal stakeholders.
The ideal candidate should have strong practical experience in financial-services regulatory compliance, with an understanding of IFSCA regulations and applicable SEBI, RBI, IRDAI, FIU-IND and AML/CFT requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable IFSCA regulations, circulars, directions and guidelines and other applicable financial-sector regulations.
- Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on the organisation.
- Develop, implement and periodically review compliance policies, SOPs and internal controls.
- Maintain a comprehensive regulatory compliance calendar covering filings, returns, certifications, audits and regulatory submissions.
- Ensure timely completion and submission of periodic regulatory returns and reports.
2. AML / KYC / CFT Compliance
- Oversee the organisation's AML, KYC and CFT framework.
- Establish and monitor customer/client due-diligence, enhanced due-diligence and ongoing monitoring processes.
- Ensure appropriate transaction monitoring,
suspicious transaction identification and escalation mechanisms.
- Coordinate applicable reporting and compliance requirements with FIU-IND and other relevant authorities.
- Conduct periodic reviews of AML/KYC policies, risk assessments and controls.
IFSCA's AML/CFT framework specifically expects regulated entities to maintain appropriate internal policies, procedures and controls based on their ML/TF risks and to designate a suitably qualified Principal Officer with appropriate seniority and resources. 3. Regulatory Reporting & Returns
- Own and monitor all periodic regulatory filings and returns applicable to the entity.
- Coordinate information and documentation required for regulatory submissions.
- Maintain appropriate evidence and records supporting regulatory filings.
- Track filing deadlines, approvals, observations and remediation actions.
- Develop management dashboards for compliance status, upcoming obligations and exceptions.
4. Regulatory & Audit Liaison
- Act as a key point of contact for regulatory inspections, queries and information requests.
- Coordinate with IFSCA, SEBI, RBI, IRDAI, FIU-IND, as applicable to the organisation's business.
- Coordinate internal, statutory, regulatory and compliance audits.
- Track audit observations and ensure timely closure of remediation actions.
- Maintain appropriate regulatory records and documentation.
5. Compliance Risk Management
- Identify, assess and monitor regulatory and compliance risks.
- Establish appropriate controls, monitoring mechanisms and escalation processes.
- Conduct periodic compliance reviews and identify gaps or potential areas of non-compliance.
- Work closely with Risk, Legal, Finance, Operations, Information Security and Business teams to strengthen the overall control workplace.
6. Governance & Compliance Framework
- Support senior management and the Board/Compliance Committee on regulatory and compliance matters.
- Prepare periodic compliance reports and management updates.
- Maintain regulatory registers, policies, procedures and compliance evidence.
- Drive compliance awareness and training across relevant teams.
- Ensure appropriate segregation and independence of compliance activities from business functions.
Candidate Profile
- 8–15+ years of relevant experience in regulatory compliance, financial-services compliance, AML/KYC, risk or related functions.
- Prior experience with a bank, NBFC, fund manager, broker, capital-market intermediary, fintech, insurance organisation, financial institution or other regulated financial-services entity.
- Experience dealing with one or more of IFSCA, SEBI, RBI, IRDAI and FIU-IND.
- Strong understanding of AML/KYC/CFT, regulatory reporting, compliance monitoring and financial-services regulations.
- Experience in managing regulatory inspections, audits, observations and remediation.
- Strong ability to interpret regulations and translate them into operational policies and controls.
- Excellent documentation, reporting, stakeholder-management and communication skills.
- High degree of integrity, independence and professional judgement.
Pay: ₹1,500,000.00 - ₹2,000,000.00 per year
