POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient Senior CNC & VMC Programmer to join our Production team at VEWIPL, Dombivali East. The candidate will be responsible for end-to-end CNC/VMC programming (2D and 3D), setup, and process optimisation for the manufacture of precision-engineered components including housings, rotors, armature plates, and other electromechanical sub-assemblies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

CNC & VMC Programming

- Develop, write, and verify CNC/VMC programs using manual G-code and M-code as well as CAM software (MasterCAM or similar).
- Carry out both 2D and 3D programming for complex component profiles including milling, drilling, boring, tapping, and contouring operations.
- Load, test, and dry-run programs on machines before live machining; troubleshoot and debug program errors.
- Maintain a structured program library (DNC/server) with version control and revision history.

Machine Setup & Operation

- Perform first-article setup including job clamping, fixture alignment, tool offsets, and zero-point setting.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, inserts, holders, and fixtures based on material grade and required surface finish (Ra value).
- Establish and document optimal cutting parameters — spindle speed (RPM), feed rate, depth of cut, coolant type — for different materials including MS, CI, EN series steels, aluminium, brass, and stainless steel.
- Perform in-process and final inspection using precision instruments (Vernier calliper, micrometer, bore gauge, CMM if available).

Process Optimisation & NPD Support

- Optimise existing programs to reduce cycle time, minimise tool wear,



and improve surface quality.
- Support New Product Development (NPD) by programming first-off components from customer drawings and CAD models.
- Propose improvements in fixturing, tooling selection, and machining sequence to enhance productivity and reduce rejections.
- Co-ordinate with Design, Quality, and Production planning teams on DFM (Design for Manufacturability) inputs.

Documentation & Compliance

- Maintain daily machine reports, program change logs, and tool life records as per ISO 9001 requirements.
- Adhere to 5S, Kaizen, and TPM practices on the shop floor.
- Follow all safety protocols including PPE usage, lockout-tagout (LOTO), and machine guarding procedures.

REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

Technical Skills:

- Proficient in CNC turning (CNC lathe) and VMC (Vertical Machining Centre) programming and setup.
- Solid knowledge of 2D and 3D CAM programming — experience with MasterCAM preferred.
- Sound understanding of G-codes, M-codes, and machine controller platforms (FANUC or similar).
- Knowledge of cutting tool geometry, tool material grades (HSS, Carbide, Ceramic), coatings, and their suitability for different workpiece materials.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T; (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)

- Familiarity with surface finish standards and measuring techniques (Ra, Rz).
- Knowledge of materials commonly used in precision engineering: MS (Mild Steel), EN8, EN24, CI (Cast Iron), Aluminium alloys, Brass, SS 304/316.

Soft Skills:

- Ability to train and guide junior operators/setters on the shop floor.
- Systematic and documentation-oriented approach — essential for ISO compliance.
- Good time management and ability to handle multiple jobs/priorities simultaneously.
- Team player with clear communication to coordinate with Design, QC, and Planning teams.

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

- Minimum qualification: ITI (Turner / Machinist / Fitter) from a recognised board OR Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering is an advantage but not mandatory if the candidate has strong hands-on experience.
- Minimum 10 years of hands-on CNC and VMC programming experience in a precision engineering / auto ancillary / electromechanical manufacturing environment.
- Experience in programming batch-production as well as low-volume, high-variety (LVHV) components.
- Prior exposure to ISO 9001-certified manufacturing environments preferred.

Pay: ₹700,000.00 - ₹950,000.00 per year
