About the Role

We are looking for a highly experienced Backend Node.js Developer to join the founding technology team of a seed-funded Wealth Tech startup.

You will take end-to-end ownership of backend engineering, from architecture and greenfield development to scalability, reliability, integrations, and engineering standards. This role is suited for someone who has built production-grade B2C systems at meaningful consumer scale and is comfortable working in an early-stage, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, build, and own scalable backend systems using Node.js.
- Lead backend architecture decisions for greenfield and existing products.
- Define service boundaries, data flows, caching strategies, queues, and failure-handling mechanisms.
- Build and maintain robust APIs and backend services.
- Integrate with third-party platforms and external systems.
- Design efficient database schemas and optimize queries and application performance.
- Work with SQL and/or NoSQL databases and perform performance tuning.
- Build highly reliable and scalable systems for B2C products.
- Develop and ship products powered by LLMs and agentic workflows for end users.
- Establish backend engineering standards, coding practices, testing approaches, and system design principles.
- Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams in a rapidly changing startup environment.




- Use AI-assisted engineering tools across the software development lifecycle.

Mandatory Requirements
- 7+ years of hands-on backend engineering experience with Node.js.
- Strong experience building production-grade systems for B2C products at meaningful consumer scale.
- Proven ownership of backend architecture, including greenfield product development.
- Solid understanding of:
- API development
- Service-oriented architecture
- Data structures and algorithms
- Clean coding practices
- Scalability and reliability
- Caching and queueing
- Failure modes and system trade-offs
- Experience designing, developing, and maintaining APIs and backend services.
- Experience integrating external systems and third-party platforms.
- Strong database knowledge across SQL and/or NoSQL, including data modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning.
- Experience building and shipping LLM-powered products and agentic workflows for end users.
- Experience in B2C product companies/startups at meaningful consumer scale.
- WealthTech, FinTech, or high-growth consumer product experience is highly preferred.
- Stable career history with consistent tenure; frequent job-hopping will not be considered.
- B.Tech or Dual Degree (B.Tech + M.Tech / Integrated MSc/MS) from a Tier-1 Engineering Institute,



specifically IITs. Candidates from other institutions will generally not be considered unless they have strong experience with top-tier product companies.
- Comfortable with a compensation structure where the company matches the candidate's current CTC without a salary hike and provides ESOPs.
- Candidates currently working at Stable Money are not eligible.
- Must be comfortable joining an early-stage, seed-funded WealthTech startup with a fast-paced environment and changing priorities.
- Must be willing to work from office, 5 days a week.
- Must be comfortable taking complete ownership of backend engineering and establishing engineering standards.
