Own major backend/platform capabilities and turn product requirements into reliable production systems.
Responsibilities
Own one or more major platform services or subsystems.
Design and implement APIs, workflows, data services, and integrations.
Build resilient asynchronous processing.
Integrate deterministic platform logic with AI/agent workflows.
Implement retries, timeouts, idempotency, error handling, and recovery.
Improve observability, performance, and maintainability.
Review code and mentor other engineers.
Diagnose cross-service production issues.
Mandatory technical skills and experience
6+ years qualified software engineering.
Robust backend engineering in Python/Java.
Hands-on experience with:
distributed systems
REST and/or gRPC APIs
asynchronous processing
messaging or event-driven systems
SQL and data modeling
concurrency
authentication and authorization
Docker
Kubernetes
automated testing
logs, metrics and distributed tracing
Experience building robust third-party integrations.
Experience owning production services end to end.
Has personally investigated production incidents.
