SAP ABAP Backend Developer Lead

Job Summary

We are looking for a SAP ABAP Backend Developer Lead with 9+ years of solid hands-on experience in SAP ABAP development, S/4HANA implementation and backend integration. The candidate will be responsible for leading technical development activities, providing technical guidance to the team and ensuring high-quality delivery in an AMS environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead SAP ABAP backend development, enhancement and support activities.
- Take technical ownership of assigned deliverables and ensure timely completion.
- Work on S/4HANA implementation, enhancements and integration projects.
- Design and develop solutions using ABAP, CDS Views, OData, IDocs, Interfaces and REST APIs.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
- Lead technical discussions with functional teams, business stakeholders and other technical teams.
- Review technical designs, development approaches and code quality.
- Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to SAP development standards.
- Handle AMS incidents, service requests, change requests and production issues.
- Drive root-cause analysis and resolution of critical production issues.
- Work on performance optimization, debugging and technical issue resolution.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams for SAP and non-SAP integrations.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior and mid-level ABAP developers.
- Support technical estimation,



effort planning and task allocation within the team.
- Identify technical risks, dependencies and issues and drive them to closure.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, specifications and knowledge articles.
- Ensure solutions follow S/4HANA and modern ABAP development best practices.

Mandatory Technical Skills
- 9+ years of SAP ABAP experience
- Strong hands-on experience in S/4HANA implementation
- Excellent experience in:
- ABAP Development
- CDS Views
- OData Services
- IDocs
- SAP Interfaces
- REST APIs
- Strong experience in SAP backend development and integration
- Good experience in AMS / Application Maintenance & Support projects
- Strong debugging and performance optimization skills
- Experience handling production-critical issues

Lead-Level Expectations
- Act as the technical point of contact for ABAP backend development.
- Lead and mentor the ABAP development team.
- Own technical delivery and ensure quality and timelines.
- Conduct technical discussions, design reviews and code reviews.
- Provide solutions for complex technical issues.
