Area Sales Manager Modern Trade

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented Area Sales Manager to drive sales and business growth across the Modern Trade channel for a leading FMCG company.

The candidate will be responsible for managing key modern trade accounts, achieving sales targets, developing strong customer relationships, and leading a sales team.

Key Responsibilities

Drive sales and revenue growth across the Modern Trade channel in the assigned territory.

Manage and develop relationships with key contemporary trade accounts.

Ensure achievement of monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.

Manage sales operations across key accounts and ensure effective execution of business plans.

Lead, guide, and monitor the sales team reporting to the position.

Develop account-wise sales strategies and execute promotional and visibility plans.

Coordinate with internal teams including Supply Chain, Marketing, and Finance to ensure smooth business operations.

Monitor market trends, competitor activities, pricing, promotions, and distribution opportunities.

Ensure optimum product availability, visibility,



and assortment across modern trade outlets.

Track sales performance and prepare regular MIS and business reports.

Identify opportunities for expanding distribution and improving business performance.

Mandatory Account Exposure

Candidates must have hands-on experience managing one or more of the following Modern Trade accounts:

Reliance Smart

DMart

Natures Basket

Candidate Profile

3+ years of relevant Sales experience in Modern Trade is mandatory.

FMCG industry experience is strongly preferred.

Proven experience in handling key modern trade accounts.

Experience in managing and leading a sales team.

Strong understanding of modern trade sales, distribution, promotions, and account management.

Excellent communication, negotiation, relationship management, and analytical skills.

Ability to work in a target-driven and fast-paced environment.

Education

Graduation is compulsory.

MBA/PGDM in Sales & Marketing will be preferred.
