Core Responsibilities

- Inspections & Audits: Routinely inspects machinery, equipment, and working conditions (underground or surface) to identify hazards.

- Compliance & Reporting: Ensures operations meet local, state, and national safety standards, often reporting directly to specialized regulatory authorities (e.g., DGMS in India).

- Risk Management: Analyzes potential dangers, prepares safety reports, and suggests remedial measures.

- Training & Education: Develops and delivers safety education programs, workshops, and emergency drills for employees.

- Incident Investigation: Leads investigations into accidents, injuries, or near-misses to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.

Required Skills and Qualifications

- Knowledge: Deep understanding of mining safety laws, regulations, and risk assessment techniques.

- Certifications: Often requires specialized health and safety certifications or degrees.

- Communication: Ability to promote a solid safety culture and train workers effectively.

- Technology: Proficient in using computer systems for reporting, such as Microsoft Office Suite or SAP.
