You'll own how our robot moves: planning paths through crowded factory floors, avoiding obstacles and people, and executing tasks reliably from start to finish.
What you'll do
- Develop and tune path planning and navigation (Nav2, MPPI or similar controllers)
- Build obstacle avoidance that works around people, carts and forklifts
- Improve behaviour at intersections, around blocked paths and at unreachable goals
- Implement task execution: going to stations, docking, pulling carts and returning
- Test in simulation and on the real robot, and analyse field data from customer sites
What we're looking for
- Degree in Robotics, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Engineering or similar
- Hands-on experience with ROS 2 and Nav2 (or similar navigation frameworks)
- Understanding of path planning, costmaps and motion control
- Good C++ and/or Python
- Experience testing on real robots, not only in simulation
Nice to have
- Behaviour trees, MPPI / DWB / TEB controllers
- Gazebo or Isaac Sim
- Student autonomous-vehicle or robotics team experience
What we offer
- Competitive salary plus equity. You'd be joining the founding India team
- Your work runs on real robots at real factories in the US, not just in simulation
- Working directly with the CTO and the founding team
- An early-stage startup: small team, quick pace, lots of ownership
About Drobot Inc.
Drobot was founded in 2021 to solve a problem every factory knows: skilled workers lose hours every week walking to find, fetch and move parts, tools and materials. We build collaborative mobile robots that take over that work and operate safely alongside people on busy, constantly changing shop floors.
Our robots are running in paid pilots with large manufacturers in the United States. We're headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina, with engineering teams in Michigan and India. Our engineers include graduates of Clemson University and IITs, and every engineer who joins now shapes the product and the company.
